To be fair, Nikon doesn’t have a perfect track record either. Do a quick search for “oil shutter issue” - I think it was on the D800.

Reading through the rest of the comments, it would seem that repossessed vehicles still do sell for reasonably high prices at auction, not pennies on the dollar.

I the financial world, there’s no such thing as “free”. Someone, somewhere, is going to pay.

I was thinking that same thing, but I suspect that they wouldn’t have the kinds of vehicles I’d be looking for (plug-in hybrids or a Leaf, or somesuch).

You’d think that any MBA worth their salt would recognize a stupid policy. But yeah, the point about people not caring... I’d be interested in finding out how to fight that kind of culture.

That’s completely awesome.

So I guess that raises the question: when running a business, how does one ensure that this sort of thing doesn’t happen?

I certainly think you’ve nailed it - people thinking short term, rather than long term. Too bad most consumers are in the same pile.

That’s the thing I find absolutely staggering - do these companies not recognize the cost of repeated servicing, let alone the potential damage in reputation? There’s something to be said about good customer service making a sale.. and the opposite!

... and why, again, do we really need dealerships? Also, there’s something to be said about outright buying rather than leasing/financing. Interest is a wonderful servant but a terrible master.

I’d love to be able to purchase my next vehicle online, go to the factory, and pick it up myself. The shipping charges alone

Hah, no worries!

Like I’ve said: California is a nice place. Too bad it’s filled with Californians.

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss them:

That’s... insane.

I’m still amazed that daytime running lights aren’t a thing in the US.

Either that, or ‘accidentally’ burn a hole through it with a lazer. No propellant required.

I’m thinking more likely that it’s measurement error, rather than warp drive.

That’s a pretty good chunk of dough. Then again, if you look at the price of a Tesla or a 7 series...

I’m curious - what was the price of a Phaeton back then?

I honestly feel sorry for anyone who has to use ArcGIS...
