I’m pretty sure there have been plenty of not-so-hush rumors and allegations about Whedon being toxic over the years, w/r/t your “something we haven’t really heard about him from other projects” comments. Maybe it just hasn’t come to light until one straw finally broke the back, as with most toxic personalities.

All right, I’ll be the first to admit that clearly something happened and Whedon was in all likelihood in the wrong. We’ll probably never know the specifics but it definitely wasn’t good. Plus, there’s the fact that he left a show he was working on with HBO.
