While the "matter of habit" seems a good theory, in practice this doesn't make sense to me, as Office changes the interface completely between each 2 or 3 iterations. Probably "fear of change" fits better.

Most of these can be type without "control" and directly on start menu. No <win> + <r> required, just <win key> <type what you need> <enter> (or in some cases type partially and use arrow down to select the proper item). E.G. <win key> Fonts <enter>
