Man, making it a modern AU isn’t gonna do squat about avoiding Disney’s wrath. Disney didn’t come up with the Aladdin story but they did come up with a lot of the extra characters for it, so changing the universe isn’t gonna help much if you’re still using the same characters.
Though, wow, what a totally backwards…
Siralim came out 4 years ago and is not a Pokemon romhack.
Coco was one of Pixar’s best movies, though. Also, Pixar kinda makes their own stuff—they don’t really make stuff from other people’s properties.
Too bad for you. You missed a good movie.
Wow screw that comment. Why does everyone hate robots?
It’s not “that kind of fandom”—it’s any fandom. There are plenty of kind folks in the community—it’s just that there happens to be mean folks there, too... again, as the case for literally any community.
It’s not so much the game getting mad at you for killing things that’s the problem—it’s folks in the fandom getting on your case. I was perfectly accepting of how the game behaved when I played the genocide route—it’s supposed to make you feel awful. But when some folks in the fandom start jumping on you and saying…
That’s not true—Undertale isn’t all that different from any other fandoms. I’ve been participating in online fandoms for 20 years now, and I’ve seen the good and bad of a lot of fandoms. But large fandoms have a lot of people, so of course you’re going to see more of the bad folks—they’re louder. It makes it sound…
The game is fine, honestly. Just be wary that not everyone in the fandom is kind, as is the case for any community, be it a fandom or otherwise.
The entire fanbase is not that bad. There’s a lot of genuinely great people here. Every fanbase has terrible people—you just hear about a lot of it in the Undertale fandom because it’s a huge fandom. Please give the game a chance.
Geez, that sucks. D: No way you can delete the comment?
It doesn’t matter what direction the game pushes you in—that doesn’t mean the pacifist route is the only right route. The other routes exist for a reason. People should not harass folks for how they play the game.
The game does tell you how to spare Toriel though—one of the Froggits you talk to says that you may need to use the “spare” option even if it’s not yellow. It didn’t trick you—you just overlooked that hint.
Oh, a fanbase demanding a game being played in a specific way is nothing new, to be sure (gosh, flashbacks to Smash Bros: Melee...), but at least in those fandoms you don’t get people telling you that you’re on the same level as a real-life serial killer because of the route you decided to play in Undertale. I don’t…
I thought it was a bit weird that it got a focus in this article. When I was interviewed, I mentioned that the shipping and nsfw stuff has been a thing in fandom since the 90s, and is not anything remotely unique to the Undertale fandom.
Nah, that theory was written by people who know zero about Baum. If Baum had something to say about politics or culture, he would have his characters outright say it. If you read the other books, his characters talk about how recorded music is terrible, how airplanes will never work, how people who tell too many puns…
YES! Thank you, gosh, I was hoping someone would say this. Most Oz adaptations are just people trying to piggyback on the success of the musical.
