I don’t know where you live, but unfortunately illegal is relative. In D.C., landlords can come in. If someone enters your apartment again with prior notice, I would look up the law in your area and then send your landlord a notice which explicitly points out this section. Read more

I’ve had other landlords handle it the same way but I’m still not sure if it’s really legal. It might not be, idk.

That was so not cool. I think it may vary state to state, but in CA a landlord have to give at least 24 hours notice before entering a tenant’s unit unless it’s an emergency.

Agreed. There’s a right/legal way to address requests like that.
