Thank you. I really appreciate this. His response really bothered me as well. It was like “I don’t have time to deal with emails, do you want this thing fixed or not.” If this happens again, I will definitely call 311 and ask how to deal going forward.

I looked it up—here it’s 48-hrs notice for repairs. :(

Whether it is or not, it’s rude. JUST WRITE BACK AND SAY YOU’LL BE BY IN A DAY OR TWO. Sorry, needed to yell, ugh.

Thank you for this reply! I agree with everything here and that’s what I’ve always expected from a landlord/super. What makes me the angriest is that there was NO response to my email asking if this thing could be fixed. I was expecting either “Yes, we can replace/fix that” or a “Nope, you gotta live with it.” So to Read more

I love this. I sent something back before I read it, though. Now I know that this is how they operate and next time I’ll be super explicit about when I want them to enter and when it’s not ok. Now I know that this is how it works. Just kinda wish he’d discussed this with me when I moved in. Oh well.

I’ve never before lived in a place where a request was considered consent. I’m used to either complete neglect or a work order system with acknowledgement they received the request and a note afterwards that they’d entered. Now I know. :(

Oh gross! That’s my biggest fear. I am so so sorry that happened. I think that next time I will be 100% sure I need whatever-it-is fixed in the next 24-48 hours and be 100% sure to only take showers after business hours. :(

I haven’t actually worked with him, but I worked under his philosophies and technique for two years . . . which was intense, to say the least. Read more

War’s a great analogy. Somedays I feel ready for battle, somedays I do not care, and somedays everything hurts a little too much. I have decided not to take any backup jobs, because that’s I got stuck in this situation in the first place (taking lower level jobs one after another, hoping they’d help me move up, then Read more

The engineers I met were pretty cool, it was management that didn’t understand being normal people. But yeah, it’s def not the right industry for me.
