The last nail in its coffin was when the Sequoia got a TRD Pro package. All of the sudden, you get a vehicle with more interior space (a LOT more space), better interior packaging, all that Toyota truck reliability, the same engine, and pretty darn close to the same off-road ability, for no-bull 20 grand cheaper. The problem is there are not enough typical “LC buyers” around to justify keeping the model or just doing a simple update. And things like it’s high price tag coupled with terrible fuel economy (by even large SUV standards) and lack of tons of modern tech hold it back from attracting more buyers.
