The moral of the story is: Cash! Cash! Cash!

People have got to be able to distinguish between a crime and a really bad idea. 15 is a bad idea; 11 is just ridiculous.
He’s dead now, anyway.
It has always seemed pathetic to me that servers are taxed on the tips that the customer gives voluntarily, and at the same time may not even be paid minimum wage because it is assumed they will be getting those voluntary tips. It is rare that the service has been so poor that I have left nothing.
There is a woman king in Ghana (I think), who is also a secretary in Washington DC. She was on The Daily Show or Colbert, can’t remember which. She explained that as far as her culture is concerned the office she holds is king of her tribe, and so she is a king, not a queen.
Thank you - I thought I was going to be the only person to point out the grotestque irony. And the movie wasn’t even that good! I can’t believe the animation members voted for his entry over the other brilliant nominees.
Don’t forget squirrels and raccoons.
The $30 a month diet? I might try that.
Nah, the oil makes it flow.
You also have to take into account population migrations in the last 2000 years. A Roman, for example, may have travelled from the Mediterranean all the way to Britain. And there are crossroads and layer cakes, like Yugoslavia and France.
I had to have my mother take me to see “Alfie” because it was “For Mature Audiences” - before the MPAA ratings. Fantastic set of actresses: Millicent Martin, Vivien Merchant, Jane Asher, Shelley Winters among them. Cher sang the theme song on the soundtrack.
No one turns on Lady Cate. She is a goddess.
Brie who? (Just kidding.)
There is a long tradition of the erotic subtext of tough guys being cared for by women when they are sick/wounded - going back at least as far as mediaeval romances but must be older - and surprisingly, this is what actually inspired the entire movie.
Does anyone remember the TV-movie version with Kristoffer Tabori?
“Remember” had such an otherwordly sound for the fall of 1964 - I’d never heard anythng like it, except for the mystery of “Sally Go ‘Round the Roses” the year before. Then Mary and the others went from buns and good-girl dresses to “The Leader of the Pack” and motorcycle-chick chic. Thirteen, eighth grade, good…
Kurt Browning! I miss him. Scott Hamilton’s affectionate assessment: “If that boy would just work...”
You too?
Five of the Canadian women played for the U.S. university I work at so I had to root for the hometown girls, but by the third period I was hoping the U.S. would win so they could be put out of their misery. Stayed up till the bitter/sweet end at 2.15 a.m.
But he’s such a good scenery-chewer.
