Yeah, Last Action Hero was a little before its time, meta wasn’t a THING yet. Now I think people know what it’s about and love it for it.

Last Action Hero is a spectacular movie built on a hilarious premise that almost no one understood and instead saw it as a common action movie.

If I may answer for him. It’s not really skits. The feature is called Fate Episode, and they portray a sort of short story with a discoursing text on a static background. The writing is stellar, no joke. Look up Lost Odyssey Dreams in Google Images to know exactly what I’m talking about!

The skits or Fate Episodes are entirely optional and can be viewed as many times as you want from the quest hub, however unlocking all of a character’s episodes requires both certain amounts of story progress and that particular character reaching specific levels (ie. this episode unlocks when X character reaches…

Xenogears is almost always at the top of lists of games Japanese gamers want to see remade, IIRC.  I’d certainly prefer it to the FFVII remake that they assure us is definitely happening.
