I hate that this is the right answer for so many people that want a practical car bu the answer is Rav4 hybrid.  Its so damn good and somehow under $30k. Not the most fun to drive but beggars can’t be choosers in this segment.  It does everything else really well.

i mean for a base or mid spec model its already pretty comparable to a Focus ST, Golf GTI, etc.  its 40 behind a WRX but it comes in hatch and is gonna be lighter.  if the model is successful i could see them doing a mazdaspeed model that slots above it with power comparable to an STI, Golf R, etc
