I’m super lucky to live somewhere where knowing about my food is easy. In the summer I go to a tiny farmer’s market where produce is grown in people’s yards. I have a regular turnip couple. The business of the parking lot where it’s held? They have apiaries on the roof. I’ve got a co-op that owns their own farm, an

What?? I’m not trying to shit on it—I agree with you about ending corn subsidies! And I think it’s a decent place to start. I also think that a solution requires a lot more in addition to that. I was just trying to start a discussion, not find a single answer. Sorry if I came across as combative!

I would LOVE to be able to keep bees (and probably chickens and maybe goats) someday! I don’t think people should feel bad about not eating a 100% perfectly organic, sustainable, local diet, since that’s not possible for the vast majority of people—but it IS possible to buy as much ethical food as you can, and be

That’s why I have an IUD!

MAYBE WE SHOULDN’T HAVE SEVEN BILLION OF US, THO.

Oh, I don’t really disagree, but I don’t think making life more difficult for farmers really helps anything. It’s already hard enough financially to be a farmer. I think we should be doing more to help people who want to farm for a living make it a viable thing to do.

And also a return to “in season” eating. A lot of the problem is that we want, say, asparagus 365 days a year. We just can’t have that- there will never be a sustainable way to grow a great many types of produce year round and ship it all over. Buy fresh asparagus when it’s in season, learn to live without it or learn

Doesn’t a lot of suffering arise due to space-saving and cost-saving measures? Not thinking of dairy cows specifically, but IIRC there are various animals that experience pain/discomfort/stress due to being excessively enclosed/immobile.

The photo is a milking carousel which is not cruel at all. It actually minimizes milking time and cow time standing in the barn - promotes animal heatlth and worker safety. Reduces repetitive stress injuries for milkers. But why let the truth fuck up urban judgment of farmers? Assholes

Seriously though, eating vegetarian a few days a week is easy and a great way to make an impact on the environment. I was vegetarian for a few years before I found affordable sources of clean food, you won’t miss the meat. If you’ve never heard of the Flexitarian Diet, it’s a good place to start :)

It’s entirely true that “ethical” food is the realm of liberal bougie types, and the reason is a combination of awareness about food ethics issues and the ability to access and pay for more ethically-produced food. But I reject the idea that it’s stupid or snobby to care about consuming food that’s produced in ways

Creating food ain't for the weak. And shut up, vegans, or answer for the insect apocalypse that is a wheat field.

You can’t tell me adding “revenge” as a forth section after “eat, pray, love” wouldn't be compelling.

Kids started it. It’s about youth wearing an orange t-shirt in a 2016 “All Glocks Down” bid to keep young folks from killing each other.

As someone who has actually done real work lobbying for gun control, I hope that Amy’s selfie is mocking this #WearOrange “slacktivist” nonsense. Wearing orange is bullshit; if you really want change, write your Congressman and Senators and then vote for candidates in November who support gun control measures.

It’s a cliffhanger. IIRC, she was going to hang Brienne as a traitor, but Brienne shouted out a word. So I don’t know if she actually had her killed. Plus, now that they’re going off the books, who knows what’s going to happen.

I'll just leave this here...

Yeah I’ve read the books too but wouldn’t put any bets on plots from books getting in these days. Not even that. It is all off piste. I thought you meant you ‘heard’ something show specific or something more . BTW there are rumours anyway because of something said by Paul Kaye (Thoros).
