“and what do you do?”
“oh i’m in gifs! you know, gifs.”

god. this ass-hat was in my town at 7 in the fucking morning last week. you had to pre-register online to get in and it was also -negative-balls-below-zero-degrees outside. it wasn’t even worth it to go and troll/and/or ask important questions.
i also really appreciate the fish-eye picture used of him at the top here.

guinea fowl are the worst! they are super ugly and loud and mean. i’m getting some because i hate my neighbor.

my (now ex) husband and i were at a funeral. they made him super nervous and awkward. he said “congratulations” to the widow when he held her hand instead of whatever condolences i coached him on. i ushered him away from the poor confused old lady pretty quickly.

you don’t lose your library card! don’t worry. i’m bi and can still work for all causes glbtq. also, being continually open about it has given my kids such an open and positive view of the subject as a whole.

i have not! while i do still have wealthy east coast relatives, i am of the poor midwestern stock. :)

i’m glad you commented! i only got the stories word of mouth, and you know how that goes. i’m also struck by how cool it is to trace your ancestors back that far and have another person randomly trace it back to the same people on a jezebel comment thread!

i’ll have to look into that one next. i’ve been placing reading bans at our house right now. it sounds bad, but we are all avid readers and don’t get anything done if we read. we are attempting to finish the log cabin addition onto our house by ourselves, and reading definitely gets in the way of that. i’m going to

hey, but i found it anyway when i was looking for my post! i’m greyed too, so i gotta search for my stuff!

has anyone read “the witches” by stacy schiff? my mother gave my sister and i copies for christmas with a genealogy chart in the front, drawn out tracing us back to one of the women hung at this site, rebecca (nurse) towne. one of 3 sisters accused, the other two disappeared. she was also pretty ancient when they drug

i’m so sorry. there are no other words. i’m so sorry for what you all are going through.

so if she’s the dem’s choice and bernie is out, i’ll vote for her, but leaves a seriously bad taste in my mouth. maybe i’m not seeing everything, but for so long now all the hil supporters i see have been really putting rude stuff out about bernie. no reason to do any of that.

i hear you on this one. i was totally taken by surprise by how sad i was over this. the current out of minneapolis played non-stop bowie from noon-10 yesterday and it was amazing. my kids and i listened to it and they got an education in all that he was and will continue to be. and i’ll add that the dj’s (especially

this is true. and i am a dairy farmer. but i’ve got goats. and i make cheese. but, shhhh!

i hear you on the false accusations. when my husband was in middle school a girl accused him of rape to some older (college age boys) that she hung around with. they raped him. he told no one and dealt with significant trauma the rest of his life.
having been a victim myself, i want to believe all victims, but things

The Deadhead convictions did lead me to the life of non-profit work as well as farming (but I think that was more of the “don’t-tell-me-what-to-do” mentality!) And I’m glad to hear it made for an “interesting” childhood. I always tell my kids that they are having a “unique” experience. :)

yes! i don’t take it terribly personally, but i do tire of the old trope of the pathetic deadhead. i’m a proud head, but i’m also a “semi” professional :), active community member, and active and responsible parent. we’re not bums. i mean, i DID wear tie-dye leggings under my jumper to work yesterday though...

I saw this highlighted in one of my Dead groups on FB yesterday and was a little amused by it, but not surprised. As much as this tribe loves and supports each other, they are also some of the most enterprising people I’ve ever met! For as many people as their are out there looking for their “miracle”, there are just

but it’s always worth it to listen to that whisper! it’s how i’ve got my favorite pair of socks, as well as mdm!

my husband was a burrito jockey too! though a good cast iron and camping stove can crank out the grilled cheeses too!
