Ah, sorry for the miss.

Really? I travel to UT all the time and am all over the valley. There is NO traffic here.

I’m of the opinion: “I’ll never own another Chrysler product.” However, if I were to buy some shit Chrysler, I’d want it as cheap as possible.

Or why not just buy a used 200 rental car? Cost half as much as new once the Chrysler depreciation monster has its way...and it’s been ‘broken in.’

My Land Cruiser seems to do that just fine. It’s been over several passes here in Colorado and was able to drive home straight and true. In fact I’m typing this from the dealer’s waiting room right now. Getting its 60K service and the alignment was still spot on.

I hear you Doug. However the motorized steering column in my ‘13 Toyota Land Cruiser works like a champ. When I shut off the engine, it moves upward and in. Then when I start the car again, it faithfully comes out of its stowage spot and returns to the precise location set in memory. I’d say it works like a watch, but

Haha, nope. He’s 2 and has closely cropped blonde hair. Loves absolutely everyone!

I typically pay cash for cars however with the rates my CU gave me, it was stupid to do that. 1.65% for 60 months on a Land Cruiser. (I paid a bunch up front so my payments are $973/mo.) Bought the wife a new highlander. Same rate for same time at $675/mo. Not a big deal...I could pay them off today if needed.

Burned hard by an ‘05 Durango. Sensor failures, transmission failure at 69K, electrical issues, steering rack issues. 2” of warranty paperwork when I got rid of it at 80K. ‘07 JGC was no better...actually worse. Even the damned transfer case failed.

Ah, sorry I had it wrong! Last year I was left on the side of the road by a 2014 JGC in Seattle. Engine died, cranked and cranked with no start. These days I really hesitate to even rent one.

Ok, so you’ve picked the one vehicle that would be worth owning from Chrysler. The rest of it continually ticks the bottom of the retained value (wranglers notwithstanding) and the trade-in/reliability under age report.

If you are actually considering buying one of their fit-for-rental-only quality shitboxes, you get

Really? Pretty much every MD-80 (S-80/83) I’ve been on has been a flying shit can of broken pieces of interior panel flapping down the runway. That and the fact that they’re usually disgustingly dirty, stained up, and hot while sitting on the ramp means I’ll almost never fly ‘Murican. Of course what I’ve described

I’m jealous. I typically see them hypermiling along at 10 under in the left lane. What is this ass-hauling utopia in which you reside???

Amazing vehicle to drive but with 179K on that V-10, I’d run away screaming. Unless you like spending $4K to drop the engine for regular maintenance. Supercar performance requires supercar maintenance. Head on over to clubtouareg.com to see what’s required.

Tried to do the same thing and put Euro-spec LED turn signals on my ‘13 TDI Touareg (because burning $500 on the signals + another $500 to get the dealer to program them sounded great.) Turns out it can be done but the coding in the BCM is intense and we gave up after I passed the $1K mark on a very unnecessary mod.

Appearance-wise it’s nice. Materials-wise it is far inferior to most of its contemporaries. The dash top feels rubbery, the plastic surrounding the gauges and Uconnect squeaks when you press on it, and the chrome pieces look ultra-cheap. That being said, the steering wheel is nice and the switch gear works well.

I have the 3.6L rental model almost weekly. It’s reasonably quick, has great RWD dynamics, and is built well for a Chrysler. (Yes, the interior is still shit but it’s not as rattly as the <2011 generation.) I typically pick them out of the lineup at National.

The most interesting thing about all this is the massive acceleration (pun intended) in EV development. As prices for battery technology drop, range expands, and other automakers find their way, the market for EVs will explode. The other day I was privately scoffing at my neighbor’s Tesla range of roughly 200 miles

Anytime you think something is idiot-proof, someone comes along with a better idiot.

Howdy — I used to sell some IT gear to your company — especially if it starts with a T and ends with an N or starts with a C and ends with an X. Loved working with you guys. Amazing organizations.
