Yep. Loosely based upon I guess would be the more apt description. And by the way, you can still fully lock the center diff (up to 24 mph) by pressing the diff lock button. The front and rear diffs are open unless you install an electronic locker from a Tundra or an air locker from ARB or other aftermarket…

Yep, same transmission with some different programming. The tundra is ostensibly based on the LC and carries a lot of the same running gear. Or so ice been told.

That is sad. The are great little 4X4s and are built far better than their Jeep counterparts. That and the fact they have far better and more reliable powertrains as well. Of course the aftermarket is nowhere near where the Jeep is and, well...marketing.

While I would certainly like an air locker on my ‘13, I don’t do enough serious crawling to necessitate it. Once the truck gets a little older, I’ll likely buy that plus some taller gears. Stock is 3.91; many people go to 4.30 or 4.88 for the real crawlers.

I sit in my ‘13 daily. No, the leather isn’t as nice as the Lexus one but it has nary a squeak or a rattle at 55K which is not something I could say for my previous BMW or MB vehicles. And the LC has everything technology-wise but blind spot monitoring and massaging seats.

I love the GX. Wife, not so much. She couldn’t get over the barn door. Everything else about it was unstoppable so we bought the disposable Highlander. Reasonably nice but a throw away car.

I wholeheartedly agree and so does the ‘13 LC sitting in my garage. Understated luxury, unbelievable capability, and unmatched reliability got my number.

Crawl control is pretty cool. I’ve used it before on my ‘13 land cruiser. Check out youtube if you want to see lots of videos of LCs getting themselves out with crawl control. Works like a champ.

Yep. As the previous owner of two Touaregs (one sold due to age, the other due to a total loss) their TDI offerings are fantastic. Chrysler Town and Countries (shitty as they are) are pretty much everywhere and in every rental fleet. I rented one last month since I got a super good deal on it and drove the shit out of it hauling my kids around on vacation.

I agree. We just added a 2015 highlander to the Toyota stable at my house (in addition to my ‘13 Land Cruiser.) The Highlander is Camry-based with its 3.5L V6. Smooth, efficient, and quicker than you might expect.
