I still think a PHEV ala Chevy Volt drivetrain would be a much better candidate. Get most of your driving done on electricity and have a small gas engine as back up, and not need the huge amount of batteries.

First generation Ford Expeditions also seem to run forever. I’ve got a hand-me-down ‘97 that my in-laws gave us back in 2004, and it is still tight and smooth to drive and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it cross country, even with 230k+ miles on it. I see a ton of them on the road still too, much more than the same…
This refreshed version looks better when they added the grill insert back (and reshaped taillights). The earlier versions of this generation always looked really cheap compared to the previous model, the entire front end was 1 piece of plastic. It just looked value engineered.
That trailer looks nothing like the 1st season, which I watched about 1/2 of before getting bored with it. It starts off in a old-west theme park populated by androids, so the name feels more fitting as most of the action takes place in old west settings with occasional scenes in the sleek future/present.
Agreed. My wife drives a CX-7 with the older 2.5 making 160hp. It’s perfectly fine.
Here’s a car with a tailgate I recently found out about, the 1951 Kaiser traveler 2-Door:
A friend of ours is moving back to Europe and gave us some of their kitchen appliances since they won’t work on European voltage. One of them was an egg cooker just like this (there seems to be a bunch of brands). I was rather skeptical about it, but I tried it this weekend and was really surprised at how perfect the…
It’s not just Jalopnik. The word has infected all of automotive journalism. Probably RR or Bentley started using it 10 years ago to talk about their individualization offerings and then the term has just migrated all across auto journalism to mean “slightly different”. I hate the overuse of the word too, it’s…
I think the current Rav4 is one of the ugliest current CUVs. For some reason, in profile the proportions seem off, and the front end looks like the face of a Michael Bay Transformer.
I can’t believe I had to scroll this far thor the HHR. This is the fits his requirements perfectly, especially in SS panel van form.
There are hardly any 2-doors to buy because almost no one buys them. How often have you seen 2-door Golfs in the last 10 years?
Why don’t single people ever buy 2-door cars anymore?
People don’t trust what they aren’t familiar with. Even though a complex, modern ICE car is just as likely to fail spectacularly as an EV, ICE represents familiar technology to the average consumer.
That’s completely true. But to the general buying public, the ICE car is the “tried and true” technology that has been familiar to them their entire lives, even if under the surface modern cars are orders of magnitude more complex in circuitry, software, communication, etc than what they are familiar with. EVs…
Yes, pro photographers are also going to be conservative in jumping on a new technology when their livelihood depends on it. But the technological innovation and huge investment into the technology was subsidized by and driven by the hundreds of millions of consumer digital cameras that were being sold. Because…
It’s going to take longer for the auto industry to change. Cars are the 1st or 2nd most expensive purchase people make, and are critical for their daily lives. People rely on their cars to get them to work every day, people are more conservative with car purchases, and this makes it more difficult for radical changes…
Same here. The combination of flesh colored top and pixelized pattern made it look like more of a party limo than a business limo.

I voted NP. Not that I would buy it, nor would any normal person, but econobox cars tend to disappear completely because no one cares about them, so this particular one is special to have survived in this condition. Belongs in a museum somewhere, and that’s about it. $7k isn’t unreasonable for a time capsule…
Kia and Hyundai have been leading the segment. It’s amazing what they offer in their basic subcompacts.
