This article made me think of what could be a cool crossover event if a company had 2 different games: 1 where the players are on a colony or century ship or some other closed environment, and a different game that was a space exploration game. Then have the players of 1 game connect to/discover the other players/game

Not so bad on desktop because all the ads were in the sidebar. Page got a little slow, which seems to always be the case with Kinja and lots of photos.

We filmed this video on a Friday not too long ago while splitting a bottle of wine, brought back to the office for us from Hungary by a very thoughtful Aaron Brown

Yes, you can optimize all of those things, and you are still only going to improve the efficiency by a few percent. The engine is still going to be controlled using current technology and current engineering expertise. You are still going to have the majority of the energy being pumped out as heat.

An engine driving a generator can run at a single RPM all the time it’s running, regardless of vehicle speed. This allows the engine to be extremely optimized for its application. Engine size, design, timing, etc. can all be matched to a very, very narrow RPM range, squeezing more potential out of the engine.

I never understood why a hybrid couldn’t be setup like a diesel locomotive like you mentioned.

You are describing a Chevy Volt.  Sure, the gas engine and electric motors/generators share a planetary gearbox, but in operation, it is pretty much what you describe.

I was in in college around the turn of the millennium too and remember the going rate for these was about $25k for decent driver’s cars, which most were. They weren’t worth enough for people to spend big bucks restoring them, so they were mostly owned by average guys who picked up an affordable exotic. I would have

We are still thinking about this from a very western point of view.  A lot of new auto companies have sprung up in China that may one day become very large players.

JESUS CHRIST! NOW I HAVE AUTO-PLAY VIDEOS PLAYING ON TOP OF OTHER AUTO-PLAY VIDEOS ON THE SAME TAB!

I’m pretty sure they are steel flat stock that is chromed.

They are also impossible to find because Mazda hardly sold any of them when they were new. Sure, with all-terrain tires and the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia, they look kinda cool. But at the time they were frumpy and ungainly looking even for a minivan. At the time the MPV was the only vehicle that looked like it:

There is an SAE standard.  Tesla chose to not use it.  Japan has their own preferred standard.

I dislike how the rear door cutline barely crosses the band around the rear wheel well. It looks careless.

I had to look it up because I knew I had been through Gaffney but couldn’t remember exactly where it was (even though I literally drove through it 2 weeks ago). But since the water tower is right on I-85, I imagine quite a few people have seen it.

It’s giving me very strong Kia vibes.  I guess the headlights especially.

Nah.  There are some implementations of the spindle grill that look alright.  This ain’t one of them.  This whole car is a convoluted mess.

I do know how an FCV works, and I wasn’t the one claiming that Toyota makes a “fully electric” car. Yes, the FCV has an electric drivetrain, but it uses hydrogen for fuel, which is why they are designated Fuel Cell Vehicles and not Battery Electric Vehicles. It is an important distinction because there are fundamental

Um, Toyota does sell a fully electric car in the USA. It’s called the Mirai.

But, cars. Sure.
