Fuck it, I’m coming out of my self-imposed Gawker exile because you, sir, pissed me off. WHO gives a SHIT about her fucking moral opinions? WHO is interested in changing this piece of garbage’s mind? All that people are interested in is her upholding the fucking law, as she’s been ordered to do. The law doesn’t give a

Without God, we wouldn’t know how to be moral, guys.

That’s really beside the point. I don’t think anyone’s goal is to get her to change her mind. The goal is to get her to issue marriage licenses as her job requires or go away.

The judge should fine her in exactly the amount she is paid for her job. They should state that they are effectively withholding her paycheck because she isn’t doing her job. While the religious right is still going to use her as a martyr, that would make it harder for them to justify it.

Like I said in a different thread, this isn’t a joke. She’s setting a very dangerous precedent. What happens when a cop kills two gay men because that is what Leviticus tells him

But...

Sorry, but Ian Fleming is the only James Bond author I subscribe to, so fuck this guy. "Too street"? Idris Elba has the style and general suaveness to play a fantastic James Bond. Better than old ass Daniel Craig, looking all agro in all of his scenes.

Good fucking gravy.

Religion gave slaves a sense of self worth and a hope for salvation in this life and the next

So, I started in a Texas High School during my sophomore year, and it was pretty much the same shit. Even the text itself maybe wasn’t so bad, but the teachers were absolute bastards, who’d frequently tone their lectures with “it wasn’t all that bad” shtick.

“My anaconda don’t want none unless you got plumes, hun!”

No it really isn’t <hot take> Assholes like Trump who have a record of being hateful bigoted peices of shit deserve whatever shaming they get. They put themselves out there, we didn’t make them. </hot take>

Body shaming is at all times a bad thing

I actually found it disrespectful to the survivors who came on and were so open about their experiences in an effort to make it clear that abuse like this isn’t rare and that healing is possible.

This was my ultimate reaction, too. At first I was disgusted by how opportunistic and gross it seemed to have the Duggars on a show about sexual assault - clearly trying to mend their reputations. But then I thought, “Maybe the family will let their children watch the show, since they’re in it. And maybe that will be

It’s interesting — when I read this headline I thought you were saying that’s a positive. I think it’s good that they didn’t. The special was about survivors and moving forward and their empowerment. Putting anything about Josh Duggar unless it was the family condemning him would have been inappropriate. The Duggar

Here’s a timeline Gawker put together of the molestation in relation to TLC’s decision to pull the show. Based on how long the allegations have been out there and the research that networks do before they put shows on the air, it’s not unreasonable to assume (and I think I may be too generous here) that they knew

Honestly, and this is just my individual opinion as one survivor of CSA, but I’m glad that they were not heavily featured. Nothing about that family or that situation is or should be used as anything but a 100% THIS IS NOT HOW YOU SHOULD DEAL WITH IT cautionary tale. I really worried when I heard they’d be featured in

This is par for the course. Naming the agent of violence is often seen as cruel or mean, or to be “ignoring the victims.” Then, victimhood itself is made shameful—”stop being such a victim,” or “don’t treat them like victims, that ignores their agency.”

End result: rapists get to keep on raping, women end up with no
