If you want to get married, it’s probably best (or at least more pragmatic) to look and act a certain way (that I think involves a handjob motion) if you’d like to signal worthiness to all the men in a one-mile radius. Is acknowledging this sexist or practical?

I stop being friends with them. And now, in my 27th year, I have thinned out my friend ranks because it’s not my job to educate or enlighten or try to change people’s minds. There’s no way in hell I can act civilly with the lady I went to high school with who’s intensely pro-birth/anti-choice. I don’t have the drive

In related news, Feminist Kittenjoy released another bowel movement. It was similar to previous bowel movements. Nothing interesting to note. Just more shit.

From what I understand..that guy Jesus was a cool and very inclusive dude.

Pardon me if I push back on this a bit, as a man who watched the show. It was getting worse and worse and I finally bailed this season when Sansa’s rape was made all about Theon. That was despicable, deserved all the criticism it got and I was done with the show.

She did later tweet about how if Cruz had spent a few years growing up in Canada he would’ve been less of a dingbat about universal healthcare

The GoT fandom - especially the men - get so vicious when the show is even slightly criticized. GRRM is so smug about writing strong women characters too, when they’re nothing but the same fantasy tropes. Like - I get that people are awful & women were raped, but there’s a difference in the way it’s treated by Ursula

When you come from a position of privilege, being treated like everyone else seems like persecution.

The TL;DR:

Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith

The guy is black himself, so I think it’s more of a “I cherish women - like Oprah, for instance!” copout.

“This one black woman agrees that it’s a good movie and doesn’t have a problem with mistreated female characters despite herself being a victim of abuse so we’re comfortable with our production. Our cred is sealed. Next question.”

It’s like, if Oprah says it’s a powerful movie, and we know how she feels about how women are depicted in film and entertainment and things like that — I feel like you’re digging. We should be focusing on how the police are treating innocent American citizens. What about that?

But I paid for those mistakes...

I think sex ed is almost too late. This is something that must be handled from birth, teaching them boundaries, that no means no, modeling appropriate behavior, my sons have been taught since these lessons since they could talk. I include it in everything.

I’ve been toying with the idea of “gladenfreude”, where I try to find vicarious joy in other people’s good fortune. But that can wait until tomorrow. For tonight, my friends, we freude the schaden. (I mean, if I can barge in?)

It’s a great night for schadenfreude.

I offered to make my husband a sandwich on the weekend, and he turned me down. What does that mean? Is he getting his sandwiches elsewhere? Is there an Ashley Madison for sandwiches?
