I don't know what in bat shit insane hell this woman was thinking, but listening to the men filming her laugh and presumably mock her really creeped me out.

THIS. I don't understand why these wedding money envelopes haven't caught on here. I honestly believe deep in my soul that if someone is offended that a couple would rather have money than 10 crystal serving bowls after their wedding, he/she is a self-important twit. Gifts, by definition, are not about you.
I have long argued that the time to create gift registries is upon graduation from either high school or college - that milestone upon which kids leave their parents home, but basically don't own shit beyond some bedroom pieces and a few posters.
Solution: have East Asian wedding. Problem solved.
I love you for this. Here's something I wrote down yesterday actually, while we're on the subject.
Every single time someone calls me one of their "gays" instead of one of their friends, I immediately ask them "So am I your gay or your actual friend?" I feel like a dick half the time because people feel bad for doing it but then maybe they'll realize that they make gays feel bad for being token friends and not…
Are you exhausted from all the, "I like this article BUT..." yet? I just wanted to say that I've been tailoring my language in all sorts of ways the past few years and I think it has made me more appreciative and empathetic to/of others. Thank you for your thoughtful lesson and your tireless responses.
Maybe it's German.
let's see... you're too sensitive... feminists have no sense of humor... i'm sorry you were offended.... wait, that's BINGO! what did i win?
As one of those uppity gays, thank you for writing this. I agree 1000%.
Mark, great article. I've really been enjoying your work lately.
Obligatory.
They made a movie about that phenomenon called G.B.F. It's from the director of Jawbreaker and the dialogue can be a bit much at times, but it can be quite funny and poignant. It's on Netflix and worth watching.
When I was in college, so many of my younger female classmates wanted to be friends with "a gay." I was *not* that gay. Once, one of them ran up to me and grabbed my arm, clinging to me like a barnacle. I shook her off into a bush, but she kept coming back.
Fun fact: scalping was practice by both native americans and colonial settlers, at approximately the same rate. They even offered a bounty for scalps.
But that's just the Hudson's Bay Company; ripping off First Nations for 350 years.
Because safe access to water is a basic human right, or should be. Making it dependent on someone eating in a specific way is inhumane — it's like if Doctors Without Borders only cared for refugees who professed certain religious beliefs. If PETA was actually in this to help people and animals and not to stir up…
If you can't afford to pay your water bill it's unlikely you can afford to be a healthy vegan.
I'm a huge fan of the Ravens, and I've had to steer clear of Facebook today due to the abundance of heinous bullshit people are posting in response to this. So let me just say a couple things to head some notions off at the pass:
performance art you say?!
