I can’t speak for all Saints fans, but from the fans I know around me I can say that Payton is, shall we say, overstaying his welcome and close to having burnt through all the good will from the Super Bowl.

You don’t realize just how good the Saints’ D was this year. Every commentator mentioned how “Drew Brees is in fine form” when right from the first game we knew that either something was off, or he was being conserved for the long run. It was the defense, that went from (one of if not the) worst in the league to one

I can confirm that on my social media feed, after the heartbreak and questioning, the next wave was sympathy for Williams. We all realized that no one wanted a different outcome more than him. Helped was Steve Gleason’s response on Twitter, which set the tone.

It’s gotten really, really quiet around here, both in the house and outside. Seriously, all of Louisiana should be put on suicide watch.

They weren’t all defenders. One of the guys was Thomas Morstead, the punter who was injured earlier in the game. Morstead is a great guy, an absolute joy to watch and an all round good human being. It really doesn’t surprise me that he’d go out there. He’s a class act.

You say that like it’s a joke, but I’m almost certain my in-laws believe that.

It’s bad enough to live in this shithole of a state, but to lose that way... Worst of all, my in-laws boycotted most of the season due to the “kneeling” while we persevered, and now I can’t even rub their noses in it

In 20 minutes I could post pictures from around here, in Louisiana, that would put the worst parts of Haiti to shame.

“While we never would have wished for this pain in our marriage, or the pain that this has caused others, with God’s mercy Sheena has forgiven and we have emerged stronger.”

If it helps, I can guarantee you that nobody in Louisiana thinks of the Saints as Ditka’s old team.

Never had it happen with Arby’s. Do have it happen with Taco Bell. You know, “Run for the Border”...

It’s Iowa. There are no small coaches.

No mention of butter tarts or Jos. Louis, either.

Late August, early September was nice. Mind you, we were almost mugged in downtown Winnipeg... but the weather was nice!

Next you’ll be talking like the Brits and saying “orientated” instead of “oriented”, and “aluminium” instead of “aluminum”. This madness must stop, and as a Canadian-American I demand it stop, right here, at Winnipeg (because if you think Winnipeg’s bad, you’re in for a rude awakening if Regina ever gets an NHL

Personally, I think it would be more fitting if they started in the parking lot of a Piccadilly, or a Chik-fil-A.

Flutie was also arguably the best quarterback to play in the CFL. That the NFL never saw his ability (after his rough early years) until late in his career is criminal. He’s easily the best scrambling quarterback I’ve ever seen. (That’s one slight knock on Drew; he’s not the most mobile QB out there.)

It’s actually a really popular set of numbers. Lots of people who understand the odds point out that no combination is any better than any other combination, so in their smug certainty they direct their colleagues running the office lottery pool to play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as their numbers(source: I used to be that guy).

I’d give you 86 stars, but this is Deadspin! We don’t give out 86 stars here!

This sort of thing happens here in Louisiana. I’m sure it happens in all states where deer hunting is legal. Basically, you’re supposed to contact the authorities so that they can verify that you’re not trying to do an end run around hunting licenses and quotas. That’s probably the reason they make it expensive to
