It’s a leftist site pushing left politics. The View is on if it’s too much for your bitch ass
There’s what I expect from the centrists!
Bernie’s too old. The Democratic party needs fresh, new leadership. Like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.
Rhett this is sort of pathetic, I know your the current inflammatory writer here but could you try a bit harder to find actual scandals?
Clinton won 3 million more because people saw how superdelegates were backing her. Their existence influenced people into voting for her. Simple.
I agree. Make the primary season as short as possible to reduce the amount of time candidates from the same party drag each other through the mud, and use proportional primaries instead of caucuses for maximum fairness and accessibility.
This ignores a huge swatch of psychology that goes into these primaries. If you’re a primary voter and you hear that Clinton is already 1/2 to winning the nomination in the first few weeks, due to legitimate wins and super-delegates, how likely are you to vote.
Get rid of primaries altogether and go with IRV.
Nina Turner was talking about reforms to caucuses. I agree the primaries should be around the same time and if not should go most populous to least populous. It’s ridiculous that the process was basically over by the time NY voted and literally over before California, the most populous state voted.
You mean like the Electoral College? Lol, if Republicans and Democrats had open primaries and no superdelegates we’d be in a much better situation right now.
Super delegates are only good if you want to concentrate political power in the hands of people who already have it.
Bernie would have won, and that isn’t even the point. Without superdelegates, Clinton wouldn’t have kept other Democrats from running.
Why even have primaries at all, then? If they’re just for show, why even bother.
Superdelegates are anti-democratic and any party that uses them is ultimately anti-democratic as a result.
Objectively not true.
There’s no way this happens. Democratic leadership is going to take the wrong message away from 2016. They’ll decide that their picking of Clinton back in 2012 or earlier - and clearing of the field to try and make her nomination seem somehow democratic - was doomed by not having ENOUGH of their thumb on the scale.
Superdelegates, of course, have never actually overridden the will of primary voters, and in 2008 also backed Hillary before people started voting and then switched to Obama once it became clear that he was going to get a majority of pledged delegates... not saying we should keep them, but tales of their power are…
I’m firmly on Team They’re All Assholes.
Really? When I have gone with lower cost airlines, Virgin America and Jet Blue were always by far and away the best experiences.
