Isn’t it amazing that “One Million Moms” is upset about this commercial while saying nothing about the Duggars?

It’s not 100 percent. I know several people who have given up because there was so much heartbreak involved.
Back when we were struggling to conceive, I schooled an anti-choice acquaintance on why we couldn’t “just adopt” a baby (~$60K in fees, Guatemala closed its program, rejection from other international programs for my hearing loss and his Crohn’s, heartbreak over a state-side mom who changed her mind). She nodded her…
That’s not to say that I believe they’re “just casting the best actor regardless of race”, but if you ARE, it seems we should be seeing POC in more roles that did not specifically require such.
I don’t think it would bother people so much that you “just cast the best actor for the role, regardless of race” if it went both ways. I think there’s a LOT of roles, even dare I say it, the majority of roles could be played by an actor of literally any race, but THOSE roles almost always default to a white actor.
POC…
Yes! I'm seeing an epic historical romance where Takei plays both Abigail and John Adams lmao
I see where you’re coming from but as Jenn3 points out, being a “sexy exotic chick” is not something to “get” or want or desire. It’s not the same as being seen as a romantic interest (which implies mutual love and respect). We certainly don’t have that “over” Asian American men. It’s just another harmful stereotype…
glenn’s character in the walking dead is refreshing for just this reason. he’s badass, fully realized and he gets the hot white girl, man i hope they don’t kill him.
After a very exhaustive casting process, we ultimately went with the best actress for the part only person we actually considered for the part.
“There’s a misconception about the ethnicity of the original character and we felt no obligation to perpetuate that misconception. We looked at Native American actresses. We looked at African-American actresses. We looked at African actresses. We looked at Middle Eastern actresses. White actresses. After a very…
I want George Takei playing all our founding fathers and mothers.
even bigger- an asian american male.
“Ooooh, it’s so HARD to cast people who aren’t white....why are you stifling our art???? Now we’re confused on what to doooooo!!!”
Isn’t it crazy how young, white able-bodied cis people are always the best actor/ess for the part?! It’s just such a coincidence. Almost like there is some other reason they are chosen....
I would love someone to cast the opposite of this just to show how ridiculous it is. Like a movie about the Founding Fathers with a black actor playing George Washington or a WWII movie with a southeast Asian person playing Winston Churchill.
Anonymous producer: “If you’re going to wait around to find the perfect actress who is a quarter Asian, and not just a quarter Asian but a quarter Hawaiian Asian, you will never cast your movie.”

It’s funny how the only time Hollywood studios actually use “colorblind casting” is when they cast a white person in a roll that’s not white.
Easy A(nswer): try auditioning some actors who aren’t white.
