First songs okay, "True TransSoulRebel" is very catchy. That new one "Black Me Out" sounds like it'll be a massive rock single even played on acoustic, so I'm pretty excited for this album. Hopefully it won't be as ridiculously clean sounding as White Crosses (which even that had a few very good songs).

I don't think its hypocritical at all, but then, I think Moore's adaptations are creative and even very loving of the original work, whereas adaptations of his work (which actually are very different forms of adaptation) tend to water down his writing and at worst outright suffocate the actual themes. And Wikipedia's

punk bands do it whenever they sign to major labels and its always fun.

Why is the AV Club hating on Alan Moore? Aren't there many, many other figures in pop culture we can despise who haven't created brilliant work? I think he's just sincerely tired of people either pissing on his work (League, From Hell) or cheerfully missing the point (Watchmen, V for Vendetta). I'd prefer more

I took it as such, which made it funnier for me (I'm also a huge fan of that movie).

Yeah, I felt better after Del Toro explained that; he and Whedon both have made decent to great blockbusters where they explicitly don't have millions of people dying, cause, yknow, they both actually care about people.

Really? Turturro was goofy, but its one of Depps most low key acting parts of late (when hes required to play an actual human being, I think he's great).

I remember Norton having pitch-perfect timing in Fight Club. His deadpan, extremely numb narration is my favorite part of it (besides everything else in the movie).

Fight Club?

Just the right notes hit of world-weariness and dry wit. Stamp is so good.

Loved him in "Adventures of Priscilla", but I just realized that I've never seen The Limey and I don't really remember Superman II (I think I was six when I actually saw it). Time to catch up on some Stamp.

No jury of (comic book fans) would convict him.

Damn it, I like The Hulk, leave me alone!

He and Ian McDiarmid were both really great in ROTS, especially McDiarmid.

Yeah he kills a lot of people in either movie (which makes it really weird in batman returns when he's all like "hes going to jail, dont kill him" when selina wants to kill max schreck.) that whole movie is kind of awesome, though.

I Am Sam.

I've never seen Tron: Legacy and I'm likely never going to, but I heard that Michael Sheen was awesome in it; I youtubed it and lo, he was. Every line reading and gesture is this weird, creepy/funny Ziggy Stardust/Frank n Furter mix, and it's great.

Roger Ebert summed it up when he wrote that Pitt gives brooding and angst to a Greek warrior who doesn't need it. Achilles doesn't give a fuck about sadness or whatever, he's a goddamn demi-god (or maybe not, I haven't read the Illiad/assorted adaptations in a long time).

They also made it clear in all of the DCAU the split between the fake Bruce Wayne and the "real" Batman through Kevin Conroy's amazing voice acting: the nice, laid-back Bruce and the deep, menacing sounding Batman.

All of the acting in Garden State is actually really good (well, maybe not Braff, but I guess that's debatable) - Ian Holm as always is excellent as the manipulative, distant father. I still don't know how to feel about Garden State, but I do think the movies that came after it are far worse.
