Something I don't understand: Why did the guy from the Russian embassy have his watch on a NATO strap? I'd imagine that'd be kind a no-no.

Margo Martindale's ability to suddenly channel incredible darkness that most of the time hides under a bright veneer is nothing short of amazing. I'm really glad she's been brought on to this show. Her work on Justified was incredible.
I just needed to drop by and say that I am in love with that turtleneck and I wish I didn't have a fat neck so that I could just wear turtlenecks all the time when it gets cold and swaddle my neck in the finest cashmere.
@avclub-3f2263ada00cf404ac8d4b205f830508:disqus Oh yeah, I'm not arguing that they're morally equivalent characters. But both shows seem to be exploring similar themes. Don has never been even the slightest bit as naive and innocent as Alicia, but so much of that is a product of his background that it's difficult to…
It's interesting that so many of the high calibre dramas focus on exploring their prime characters relationship with ambition and the lengths they're willing to go to succeed. Walter's descent into evil in Breaking Bad and Don's obsession with being the very best are rather explicit and are the direct goals of the…
See, I actually don't think Cary would have taken it. Not because it's not the smart thing to do, because it is, but because he's young and doesn't have a family and therefore does not have to think about the familial responsibilities that Alicia does. He also has a lot to prove due to his relationship with his father…
I still wish Alicia would be part of the new firm. I love Lockhart Gardner, but if the show had decided to make a clean break and start afresh I would have backed it completely. Peter no longer being in the DA's office means that there's no consistent adversary.
That would be terrible, and also untrue. The "lose if you quit" mentality is also very American. It's not difficult to imagine that someone from the Midwestern heartland would be raised with such values.
Except she's only 10% as badass as either of those girls. Now Arya, Sally and Loretta. I'd be scared to watch that show.
This grading scheme actually makes sense to me because it's exactly how grading works in academia. Put in a half decent amount of effort in a discussion based humanities class and get an A-. Put in ungodly hours on a fluid mechanics class and get a B. That's just how it is.
But they actually have. The fit of the average T-shirt and jeans has gotten increasingly looser until very recently when a spark of interest in menswear is making retailers tread a little backwards on vanity sizing.
A big part of why this show feels like Rubicon is because Rubicon was designed stylistically to look like spy movies from the 70s.
They're going to be even more confused when they test the actual Apple Cider and find it to be completely non-lethal.
I've been seeing Southland get a lot of love from AVClubbers, but I've never gotten around to watching even one episode.
After listening to and loving Kindred, I loaded the Burial EP up on my phone and it started playing as I was finishing up a late night at the library and walking back to my apartment. I took a longer route home just because it was so perfect. I've tried doing it again, but nothing has been able to capture the…
I think he was too busy wondering what Stan was looking for and keeping his reactions in check to be worrying about the caviar.
No, that was definitely a recording. Picking up the transmission is a pretty laborious process as evidenced by Rhys' stay in the car. He probably let it sit over night while the dinner happened and the tape got to the consulate the following morning.
After season 2 of Homeland I don't think it really belongs up their with Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Those two shows are great because of the consistency of their vision and how its executed. Homeland just wasn't able to hold it all together this past season.
I think you might be alone on this one. I would be very surprised if Paige wasn't theirs. Remember, having children is a core part of their cover and is probably something they got to work on pretty soon after arriving.
@disqus_okgItcD0yy:disqus They threatened to have her and her family sent to the Siberian gulags. In my book that's pretty much being murdered except you slowly starve and freeze to death instead of being shot or say poisoned.
