I think a significant percentage of Internet content consists of this argument:
I guess Beck qualifies as a "rock" artist sometimes, but I would kind of put him in the same category of latter-day Beastie Boys (who are also a great act with a DJ).
I remember Kittie.
"Truth. "
Whatever that guy did to the label, it's a shame. The first couple of "Victory Style" comps were fantastic, but that old label is almost unrecognizable at this point.
I associate Fishbone with awesome.
"Army of Me" is just a great song.
I always hated the Strokes because they seemed way too bored to care about anything. I'm sure it was some kind of hip put-on, but it just turned me right off.
I still listen to the Capitalism Stole My Virginity 7" now and then. They're no Refused, though.
I'm not playing. I've never seen "TRL." I obviously heard it referenced a lot in magazines, etc. at the time, but I've actually never seen MTV, ever.
I think the name "screamo" is just so retarded that I have a hard time taking anyone seriously. That and all of the SUPER BRIGHT COLOURED tattoos.
I would like to amend that to "good rock band."
I just spent the last couple of minutes trying to think of a good band with a DJ. Drawing a blank. You're right.
I think it's safe to assume that many of us who are fans of this feature are of the aging "get off my lawn" type, so a print book would probably be a better idea.
I just wanted to point out that it is quite common for people to say "innit" without it being a reference to a Guy Ritchie flick.
Even molestation doesn't explain his hair. It's not even the typical white-boy dreads. It's like someone made white-boy dreads using toothpaste and then didn't maintain them (or bathe at all) for about nine years.
BOOK.
To be honest, the last few kind of bored me, and I've loved the overall series so far, but this was a very well-written article. Even though I hate these bands, I think this was on par with the first few entries in the series (which talked about bands I love).
Yeah, it's really all about what YOU were listening to at a certain time in your life. Pretty much everybody can make an argument for _______ being the "best time for music EVER," because _____ is usually a particular time in their lives where music made a big impact.
