I had honestly never heard of Stacy Keach before watching Fat City last night, but he and the shockingly young Jeff Bridges were very good. I found Ms. Tyrell's performance very irritating, but I suppose that was the point.

Are we talking contemporary directors (as in directors who started after the seventies), because Herzog, Malick, and Scorcese are still working. If we are, then I would have to agree that its neck-and-neck between P.T. Anderson and the Coens for me as well (haven't seen as much Wes Anderson).
