When he started out Calvin Harris was a thoroughly unpleasant man - hopefully fame and adoration has mellowed him out and now he's a nice chap to be around.

I hope they do what they did last year and release pretty coloured split 7 inch records with tracks from the albums to indie record stores to be given out free with the albums. I ended up with the full set last year and where else am I going to get Ron Sexsmith/Timber Timbre or Colin Stetson/Arcade Fire split vinyl…

I recall you guys posting a link to the bootlegged Dark Knight Rises trailer a while back - more than enough to have the AV Club taken down without due process under SOPA.
Yeah it's a UK thing - because it used to be on More4 but was axed a while back but Comedy Central still insist on blocking it for no good reason.
This is true but it's worth remembering that the Tories failed to even get enough votes to form a government in the last election even after 13 years of continual Labour rule so 'resurgence' may be a bit strong.
This is why I distinguished 'representative democracy' from 'direct democracy' - the constitutional monarchy thing is a bit of a red herring as it's basically an ancient artifact that can be removed/ignored at any time. The UK had its own Civil War to get rid of the Monarchy ages ago - we just let them back in a…
Well it IS a representative democracy, same as the US. My question was really about the crazy 'unlimited anonymous donations from anywhere' thing followed by the Super-PAC thing which is even madder.
The idea that "well someday I'll be rich so let's not tax rich people" isn't a new one in the States. Apparently during the Civil War many who fought for the South and couldn't afford slaves would argue that "someday they may be able to" and fought on that basis.
It's sad that even though the Colbert Report was axed in the UK Comedy Central still blocks all videos.

Well Nolan was looking at doing some filming at Occupy Wall Street before he changed his mind because that would be crass.
Why are we picking up on all this and not mentioning use of the phrase "hold down the fort" - it's "hold the fort", the fort is not at risk of floating away.
The writing turned an otherwise unremarkable news story into a thing of beauty.
Do those people also say 'legos'? That would make a significant difference to my opinion of them.
Yeah fucking up the pluralisation is a distinctly American thing and it makes me all angry on the internet when they do it.
It's is only Americans who say 'legos' - everyone else in the world is perfectly happy saying 'lego' as the plural, like 'fish' or 'sheep' or 'elk'. It's not that hard! Stop pretending that it is!
