I was really sad when he left/was fired, until I discovered that Lord Wyndemere was almost exactly copy/pasted from an old Dana Carvey sketch.

I only tuned in from the Thatcher sketch on (I'll watch the rest on Hulu later), but less Bayer and Cecily Strong, and more McKinnon made this episode rate high for me. I thought the junior high dance sketch could have been great (I generally dislike Vaughn, but he was GREAT for that character), but the writing seemed

I thought their cover of "Ballroom Blitz" was hair metal-ish, but that "Why You Want to Break My Heart" song sounded like a hybrid of Chinese romantic pop and Wilson Philips.

I mean, he's a reprehensible human being. But the TV show Steve Irwin died making (the one for his daughter) not only was aired, she made novelty pop songs for it. So, where do we draw the line?

I completely agree that there are comedians who make their weight a huge part of their act, just as many comedians base a lot of their act on their ethnicity, sexuality, etc., and that Iglesias, May, and Farley do/have done that.

Exploit, or use? As physical comedians they have to use the bodies that they have. That is really more a matter of interpretation (but less so for Rebel Wilson, who at least in "Pitch Perfect" specifically made weight related jokes). Also, it's pretty simplistic to expect comedians with body types not typically seen

A note on the monologue —- I feel like most people who read it as a fat joke seem to be men. As a woman I found it to be relatable and a funny commentary on fashion norms. I felt the scene would have worked just as well with an equally gifted physical comedienne of a different size. But that's just my opinion.

Because all fat women comedians are just different versions of the same thing?

He'll be the next Jon Hamm (ie., charismatic cable drama star who becomes a beloved frequent SNL host and guest)! Except exponentially more melancholy.

McCarthy was stellar, but the writing for the most part was better than usual this week (though I missed the awful sounding cold open). If McDonald had anything to do with that, I pray that they try and get him on a more permanent basis.

I thought the McKinney/Koechner 18th century fop characters were the only good things about that season. I can't remember their names, but here's a picture:

Jesus Christ. Television would find a way to ruin cats.

He tried! But "The Neighbors," which was inexplicably (yet for Wiseau, unsurprisingly) set in an office, wasn't picked up.

I like the Jian Ghomeshi rec. His interviews are always compelling. Just watched the Billy Bob Thornton one and that was out-of-this-world awkward. Thornton answers a question about what music he listened to as a child by discussing a movie monster magazine figurine contest…because he was annoyed his acting career was

I need his specific pronunciation of "whore" back in my life

For me, watching him host SNL this year sealed my appreciation. Our senses of humor don't always overlap (at times I, and probably everyone else, find him too manic), but it was wonderful to see an elder statesman of comedy have a blast performing live and seem actually excited about entertaining.

He did an assembly about improv at my middle school. For free! I wish I'd been older to appreciate how awesome that was. I appreciate his genuine zest for performing (compared to say, Chevy Chase or Dan Aykroyd).

I feel like Nasim is heavily featured (though, more as an "eye candy" bit part than strong performing roles), though I was surprised how much air time they give to Cecily compared to the average new performer. McKinnon is one of my absolute favorites of the post-2000 era though, and I never cease to be disappointed by

Hmm…I feel gross trying to pick who the prettiest actress on SNL was (though I guess I'm doing that anyway), but there have been a lot (Pedrad is just more memorable because she is also a talented actress. I adore her Ariana Huffington, it's so spot on). Gail Matthius from the season everyone pretends never happened

You know WHUT, g2? Can I use the "n word" real quick?
