The Sting is going to be playing at a theatre here in August, I think. I definitely want to see it again - the last time I saw it was on a theatrical re-release in about 1978. I wasn't quite old enough for it yet - I remember a lot of it, so it made an impression, but I mostly remember being bored and confused.

JAWS 2 has also a terrific John Williams score - his first score to a sequel. There's a brief interview with him on the DVD about that, and what it was like scoring a sequel to one of his own scored movies.

Ok so seriously, did I like stumble into the 35-and-up AV Club comments thread?

For some reason, after enjoying the pilot I decided I wasn't going to watch any more (it involves going to a friend's house). But each time I read an episode synopsis, I want to see it.

Wasn't there a barbecue in the pilot episode too?

NAMBLA was definitely bidding for mainstream acceptance, though it's debatable how nearly that was accomplished, though that's merely a minor quibble. Everything else you say is 100%, no exaggeration.

That's interesting. Was his wife frumpy? I never thought so, but I can see your point.

Actually, just to make it squickier, it seems the victim's mother was complicit to what was going on, or to what was going to go on.

"a sexually liberated Doris Day" is a perfect description of Fonda. Fonda was the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl next door who was also "fun", but that doesn't lend itself to a character with any kind of depth at all.

Oh, it was noted - that scene where she comes out of the lake onto the diving platform probably had a lot to do with the success of her '80s home video fitness empire (which was a huge success indeed).

I agree it's very good, but I'm curious as to how you would call it underrated? I think it was pretty successful, and Jane Fonda did win an Oscar for it.
