I agree it's very good, but I'm curious as to how you would call it underrated? I think it was pretty successful, and Jane Fonda did win an Oscar for it.

There are a few good scenes, which I think make it worth seeing once - the opening striptease, the bitey-dolls, the Orgasmatron.

Good question, it used to confuse me too - and, there's a good answer! The MPAA can re-evaluate and change the official rating on any movie at any time, and they most often do so when it's shown in a new venue, like a theatrical re-release, or when a movie is released in a new format, like VHS, DVD, etc. The content

Yes. Jane needs to be played by an actor who is known for being…kind of unpleasant. Jessica Lange and Faye Dunaway would both do very nicely.

Well Betty White and Cloris Leachman, but I don't think so.

This photograph accompanied a CD collection of hers. I got her to autograph it for me in the late 90s, and she said "Where'd you get that picture? I was only about 19 years old".

If you're curious about it, you should definitely see it. I don't feel that way about everything - some things definitely don't reward curiousity - but "Barbarella" is fun. It's also a trudge, like the review said, but you should see for yourself. It's definitely not a waste of time, though I wouldn't recommend it to

You're absolutely right. Any artist is fair subject for criticism based on the larger body of his/her artistic output, though, and there's a lot more to James Franco's artistic output than those two movies; that larger body of work is what is being criticized.
