I am so glad he mentioned the "Once I Had A Secret Love" episode of Mary Tyler Moore. It's hands-down one of the best things I've ever seen; I just saw it at random a few weeks ago when I happened to turn on MeTV, and it's truly one of the best things I've ever seen. Thanks, Mr. Grant!

I'm pretty sure I saw that Irish ghost story on DVD, but it was at least ten years ago. That's long enough ago that I may be misremembering, in which case I saw it in a little downtown theatre in the mid-nineties

Which greatest hits album? I'm guessing "Heartaches & Highways"?

People are passionate about what they like. I've made it a practice over the years to avoid discussion of, for that reason. I am not bragging about that; I was quick and careless in my dismissal of his music. This dismissal was based on "Love Hurts", and yes I admit I never really got beyond that song; again, I'm not

You've had the same office and the same secretary for five years? I don't know why that's remarkable, but it is.

Boy oh boy oh boy, do I remember this book.

All right, all right, all right, all right! Gram Parsons! All right!

"I don't like it because I don't understand it". Ok. See my later posts above, if you want. I'm willing to admit I might need to revisit his music, and I may do that.

@avclub-382244fee17774590b496d89418029a7:disqus  really haven't liked anything to do with the Flying Burrito Brothers, or Gram Parsons, or even The Byrds - I don't hate them, it's just not what I like listening to. I did really like Desert Rose Band, btw.

I've never seen "F Is For Fake" (though I want to now), but I wonder if you mightn't like some of Peter Greenaway's early films, especially "A Walk Through H" and "Vertical Features Remake". Both are structured as essays, as I recall - I don't remember many details of "A Walk Through H"; though I found it absorbing,

You know what, you're right. I should explore him a little more. I'm not doing myself any favors by not.
