That's why I think the modern DC movies are far more interesting than the Marvel ones.
You're on to something here although I think its an issue too hard for current day AV Club to unpack. Certain TV critics are far kinder to uh, "escapist" fare in that medium than they would be to movies of the same ilk. i.e. any of the modern day CW shows or Netflix Marvel stuff. I also think you have a lot of the…
All the reasons stated in this piece are why I "liked" the character. I was tuning in to see what that wild eyed maniac was going to do next and I couldn't take my eyes off it. Would he kill his friend in a drunk driving accident? Slap around Ray Romano? I'm actually surprised that was an O'Neal writeup as I…
"The Woods in Someone's Backyard" set didn't suffice?
So it's all but said in this review that the heroes die. Granted, I think that's probably the only way to tell a one-off Star Wars story without people expecting yet another trilogy.
He wasn't gay then, though.
At my screening of Suicide Squad, I overheard two elderly black women discussing that while they both liked Will Smith movies neither liked him. Why? Because he "turned sweet". "Jada too". Arguably more interesting dialogue discussing their alleged marriage of convenience than what was in the movie.
Yeah! Ain't it cool!
In the not too distant future, people will wonder how Deadpool was ever A Thing. It felt dated on release even. Kick Ass did the vulgar subversion of superhero movies better years ago (and I'm not even the worlds biggest Kick Ass fan).
Upvoted for the out of nowhere Screamers reference.
I'm in the small (maybe only member of) first season - underrated, second season - overrated camp (even though Theroux's journey at the end of last year was excellent television).
"wanted nothing to do with that movie."
Whatever was being implied there aside, I liked that guy. He was one of the few characters the show not bound by any sort of rigidity (no pun intended) in his dialogue or actions. He kind of reminded me of a mid-period Friday the 13th character (only into male robots).
I stand by it.
I didn't care much for this season and would have liked to see the material in the hands of any other A-list show runner except Johnathan Nolan. It was a show for autistics that don't care about pragmatic things like how the park even works. (Where does that fall on the spectrum)?
Incentive-wise, taking place in a more modern global world, they can sprinkle in more Chinese characters, and try to get some of that sweet, sweet box office cash in China.
Shoddy plane CGI aside, I think this could be good. Maybe? Mainly I'm relieved that its not Cameron Diaz playing The Girl. I was worried that was her until I checked the cast list.
People laughed at the Dracula Untold reshoots to fit into the Universal Monsters universe (and they didn't make much sense at the time), but now that its confirmed this Universe is a contemporary one, I wouldn't be shocked to see him and Charles Dance show up.
Season 4 sort of reboots the series to a degree and is an improvement over 2 and 3 (which, in my opinion, were two of the weaker seasons). It becomes literally brighter and more fun. Keep going.
