But enough about Brandon Routh.
But enough about Brandon Routh.
The irony of Nightmare 2 going from "the one no one likes" to the one that will probably be remembered and dissected longer than any of the other sequels because of the subtext is a fascinating story.
Andy Greenwald is not a good TV critic.
I would think that foreign audiences have seen these locations over and over. Maybe on their original releases, there was more novelty to fans in the UK but San Francisco and (a very depressing looking) Vegas in Diamonds are Forever aren't things that haven't been seen in dozens of films.
My knowledge of the comic universe isn't as strong as the fans, but I always thought of Red Skull as a pretty big deal. I wonder if they could call an audible to bring him back to prominence as a major threat. Hugo Weaving is a proven thing as a cinematic Big Bad. I think it would be preferable to the silly looking…
Basilone definitely rejoins the war and gets another episode. I'm guessing you're just about to start episode four and that kicks off what's essentially a three-part battle heavy story where Rami Malek shines. (I don't know if HBO prepared viewers for the strange structure of the series)
Saw Age of Ultron.
Some thoughts (I'll keep things mostly positive this morning. Lets make it a good day!):
- Kudos to Marvel for opening the movie in media res with the end of a battle against a C-tier villain. I've always thought superhero movies should open up this way.
- The truck chase in Korea with Cap battling…
I actually prefer later era Moore to later era Connery. My only real gripe with View is that San Francisco wasn't the most imaginative Bond locale. Then again, I don't think Bond's travels to America have ever been all that rewarding. I do like the first half quite a bit.
2:1 odds say this is Mad Max spoof because of that. Any takers?
This trailler definitely makes me feel like I missed something by never reading one of their magazines. I've always wondered how ubiquitous National Lampoon was in its late 70's heyday. I've never actually seen one out in the wild. Could it be found in every grocery or drug store like Mad Magazine?
The original is a Great Movie. Watch 2 if you'd like to see a continuation of the characters lives. Its still gritty and 70's but not quite as good. Everything else is pretty optional.
29 and 30 aren't too bad. You can troll for sympathy from other people, at least. Once you hit 31 though, you're done.
Can we all wish the final 2 seasons away into the cornfield. I may have been guilty myself of trying to tell myself "well its not that bad" but, in retrospect, yuck. Actually, can we wish Ed Helms away into the cornfield never to be seen again?
I wouldn't say Franzen "sucks as a person". He's just an eccentric guy with some quirks. As far as I can tell, his main "crime" is hating the internet and all the crap that comes along with armchair critics and social media. I don't think his issues with it are entirely without merit.
I will always support AV Club covering literature that isn't just some alt comedian's memoir. Good job, AV Club.
His cameo in Desperado was pretty self indulgent as well. I think his "acting" phase has been forgotten by a lot of people. Although recently, I don't think anyone would say his scenes in Django were their favorite either.
Well deserved cinematography win for Boardwalk Empire. A beautiful show that raised the bar for the look of TV. Although, I question the Academy for not nominating the show for Best Casting when they casting department was able to find dead ringer teenage lookalikes for the flashback scenes. I also question that…
Hearing Robert Rodriguez making the podcast rounds the past couple week, I got the urge to revisit some of his and Tarantino's movies. Saw that Four Rooms (which I hadn't seen) was streaming on Netflix and decided to give that a go. Good God, no wonder that movie has been mostly lost to the sands of time. Just a…
The Spy Who Loved Me is soooo good. Its easily a top 5 Bond film. When people dump on the the Moore era I question whether or not they've seen TSWLM (or For Your Eyes Only for that matter). Spy set a globe trotting template that's still followed to some degree in the franchise today.
