I like how its implied in the questioning that there were no hookers on Carnivale when Stumpy Dreifuss was pimping out his own wife and daughter the whole series! Lack of hookers was not the issue.

Yes! The critics of this season seem to want homogenized storytelling (whether they know it or not). True Detective is the work of an auteur, warts and all.

I thought he was immediately going to catch a bullet to the head from Frank right after that Kennedy line.

Frank Semyon's systematic beating and killing of Blake was right out of the Al Swearengen playbook.

With a Tyson fight, you'd still have people buying the pay per views just to see a brutal knockout. Even though, Rousey KO'ed that opponent last night, the armbar just isn't the same. There's no way her PPV buy rates can be sustained, can they?

If Band of Brothers depresses you, wait til you get around to The Pacific!

I really liked Rome Season 2 when it was airing (on a rewatch, I think i prefered S1 more). It seemed to be one of those shows that got the edict from the network (like Carnivale) to speed things up in the second go around. Yeah, they're compressing 20 years into 10 episodes of TV but I thought it worked really

"Relative Heiarchies of Rape" would make a great band name.

A new low? I think that would actually be really interesting. I think Arnold missed the boat by not being in more swords and sandals properties in his acting career. He's a natural fit for them.

So, half a second longer than Anchorman 2 and Dumb and Dumber 2 were in the collective consciousness.

It's also impossible to create an engaging drama for adults without adding shades of gray to the characters. Leave my gritty anti heroes alone! I also think that the current demographics of current TV critics has something to do with it but that's a whole other can of worms.

Coppola's preferred title of "The Death of Michael Corleone" is a more fitting title for the movie.

At the very least, I get the sense that a lot of critics don't want dark shows with troubled characters at this point in time. Which, as a matter of personal personal preference, is fine I guess. However, its coloring objective criticism way too much.

Joey Zasa was the best part of Godfather Part III. The idea of the Corleones, who are a romantic version of a criminal organization almost to a fault, running up against a brasher, more realistic interpretation of a (then) modern day mobster was an interesting direction to go in for the first half of the movie.

Considering that Nestor Studios also had an office in New Jersey, I'm sure they'll be an entity in Chase's show. Some overbearing mothers may also appear.

Not much, really. People just decided they didn't like the showrunner. Other than that, the major crime investigation is sort of vague and constantly being sidetracked.

But if you're not caught up on all of the past programming, its a treasure trove of content and easily worth twice that of Netflix.

The article actually seems to be missing what the Chase show is about. Its about 1910's Hollywood.

Exactly. Dexter was never A Great Show. An easily digestible premium cable drama with no real depth for hoopleheads.

Angrily typing 140 characters into the ether doesn't really constitute a conversation either.
