Upvote for Freddy vs. Jason. That movie showed that tired old slashers from the 80's could work in the 21st century and it made the Platinum Dunes reboots of both all the more disappointing.

What do you consider inept about the the campaign for Licence to Kill? The trailers and TV spots?

I grew up near the town where Season 4 is shooting and have seen a lot of the locations where they're filming. People really got into the spirit of it around here despite no one having seen let alone heard of the show before.

He looked to be in his 150's in the first Captain America.

"Fifties" is even pushing it. He very well could have been in the last throes of his 40's when it was filmed. (Born in Sept. 1946,filmed in 1996)

You mean the Lord of the Rings channel and the Iron Man 2 channel?

Considering that the original could be found on cable channels pretty much every weekend throughout the 90's and early 00's, I think people remember a lot about the first. I think it wasn't until the Marvel and Lord of the Rings movies that it lost its ubiquitousness on TV.

I'd be able to forgive all his craziness (Quadziness?) for a couple more Cousin Eddie scenes. As long as he gets to play off of Chevy Chase instead of Helms.

"You wrote Rome. What happened, man?"

I'd rather ask questions of the critics.

I thought that was pretty much the case (or close to it) already for 8-13 episode cable series.

True Detective has the best extended action set pieces of any prestige TV Drama that I've seen. Amazing tension. I give the episode an A just for that score alone.

The fact that a lot of critics and vocal opponents of this season don't see this whole affair as pure pulp fiction is really frustrating. The dialogue is supposed to be overwrought.

The AV Club is messing with my sleep schedule here. I want to talk about how great that set piece was.

Where the finale ends was kind of a bummer in its first airing because no one knew when it was coming back. However, in retrospect, Season 4 might be the best season. Like you said, the show is very comfortable with itself at that point. I think there's some underrated gems in there like the episode with the HUD

Interesting. I think in America, the show benefitted critically somewhat from being an "exotic" import from the UK that not everyone was hip to yet.

I hate-listened to Ryan McGee (who has freelanced here) and Maureen Ryan's podcast for a while. That was one particular place where this wrongheaded view was espoused.

They all graduated from the School of Nussbaum.

I was indifferent to the soundtrack but there's paid critics out there that say Peaky Blinders is better than Boardwalk Empire. Yet another reason why I can't take most tv critics seriously anymore.

Yes.
