lol My problem with General Pickett's was the terrible name. I just picture dead Confederate soldiers being carried off the battlefield and into the kitchen ala Sweeny Todd.

"As Abraham Lincoln once said: 'If you are a racist, I will attack you with the North.'"

When I was in school one of my professors talked about the idea of "Herrenvolk Democracy". In this context, it basically means that many poor white people supported slavery because just having the institution around made poor whites higher up on the social class scale. Think of the Ewell family in To Kill A

I visited Gettysburg over the summer and there were shirts for sale with the Confederate flag and a caption that said 'if this offends you, you don't know your history' or some shit to that effect. To those people I say: If you actually knew your history you would never stop being offended by the hatred represented in

War Horse wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad, either. It was basically a John Ford style war picture. There's a gorgeous part in there where the horse runs around trenches/into No Man's Land. As a history buff I understood what was going to happen but I still jumped/pulled away from the screen when the moment arrived.

I feel like Punch Drunk Love is one half of two different movies. There's the emasculated, anxiety ridden man who is able to make a change in his life (the half I loved) and there's the guy who gets caught in a phone sex blackmail scam that threatens his work and family lives (the 'meh' half). The two parts make sense

I second this order.

For the record I would like to state that I would watch the hell out of a movie about a time-traveling Lincoln who kills Hitler.

Munich is great. It's one of those films that is great at building tension. So many scenes had me on edge.
