This strangers from twitter podcast is a pretty low quality whingefest. It's night of the election level ranting.
"if the hard line libertarians who voted Gary Johnson voted for Hillary instead we could have stopped this, you idiots!" level of analysis is beyond moronic.

English ones: Monty Python's Flying Circus, the Fast Show, the League of Gentlemen, Jam (dunno if the Day Today or Brass Eye count), Big Train…

oh no, I just saw Jason Ritter's name in the opening credits!

Dude, just because one reviewer gives a film a lower score than most would doesn't mean all other reviewers on the same website have to use that as the gauge for their rating. Ratings are generally a fair bit arbitrary with most things.

Thought her character developed in an entirely predictable manner and I don't think she's a very good performer. Was happy to hear she would have a reduced role in season 2 but as I'm kinda expecting this show to run me off over the next season or two regardless (I've no faith in the creator of Weeds), I don't really

Haha, "Rake"?! As if they'd make a show called that, you didn't get me with this April Fools!

Kindness

Turned on the episode just now, got so angry about seeing Ritter back that I logged on here to read spoilers. Would probably have given up on the show if you didn't mention he was engaged to someone else, that's how much I hate seeing him here.

Yep, was a big fan of season 1 but 2 stunned me in how good it was. 2 also felt like something I'd be comfortable recommending to loads of people as well, tbh.

Todd, are the individual lists up anywhere? Was there a set of shows that were set as required viewing for the voters? These lists always wind up being a bit flawed in that respect (e.g. 2011's pretty poor performance on end of year lists for Take Shelter, followed by a ton of critics catching up with it in early

Wow, people like Fruitvale Station a lot more than I expected. That film had some really obnoxious heavy handed shizzle in it, as if that day was supposed to be the turning point of his life.

Don't worry about that man, the promos for Enlightened were toxic. If I wasn't a big Mike White guy, I wouldn't have given it a shot beyond them.

It didn't get that much coverage when it aired. Think tv critics and their bosses have a lot to answer for in it failing so spectacularly. The vast majority of them seem to rarely search that hard to find hidden gems.
There were only 7 reviews for it on metacritic, all extremely positive, if it was your career, you'd

Didn't know that! Albuquerque was a great distinct setting, the show really lucked out there.

So what's the deal with individual lists? Are they being put out? Will each individual's number one count as a number one on the metacritic aggregated list?

I guess it depends on how big of a cynic you are, I thought the fact she was able to get anything done at all was incredibly positive!

Thanks for the Luck reminder!
Deadwood is by the same guy, I'm sure you already know that though.
Worth giving Carnivalé a shot, you might love it, you might not, but it's from that era where HBO would throw huge money at bizarre stuff so it's interesting at the very least.

Mike White has another HBO project in the pipeline, I think?

Ah, sorry for misunderstanding. I really hope Gilligan manages to keep as many of the people involved behind the scenes with BB around for his next proper project, they obviously clicked incredibly well.
