I guess that everyone that is complaining about it being too open ended did not hear that he had been in talks with SciFi to decide when the show would end so that they could write for the end. And the final season is the upcoming one in January.

Wouldn't you say that The Wire has "a good plot arc" and a "human story that resonates?" that is what is so great about The Wire, the characters are so very real and the more you know about them the more you grow to love the show (and the good plot helps a lot also).
