Rats, what a rotten week. Hang in there, Jimmy - don't let the bastards get you down!

Happy birthday, Beef!
When I was in college, he and Ed Asner were doing this really neat radio recreation of the Scopes Monkey Trial, with de Lancie as Darrow and Asner as Bryan. They did a recording at my school that I attended, and I got to meet Mr. de Lancie afterwards and get his autograph. He was a very nice man indeed!
I finished my Crispix!
Jeff Goldblum needs to quit messing around and start working on the sequel we're all really hoping for:
JOHN DE LANCIE THREAD
"That turtle's got all of my teeth! There he is!"
Aww, what's the matter Jimmy?
HEH, I love her invocation of David Strathairn when discussing The War Room. Excellent.
I emailed the Criterion people this week and asked them to release Joseph L. Mankiewicz's Sleuth. I assume it's only a matter of time now!
As I mentioned back on the Weekend Thread, I'm preparing to start Master of the Senate, Volume III of Robert Caro's Lyndon Johnson biography. The first two were quite extraordinary, and I've been told that the books just keep getting better and better. I'm so excited I could dance!
Truly, O'Neal is the precious flower that grows from the pile of festering dung that is Chris Brown.
I'm still sad about what happens to Richard Farnsworth in that movie.
Someone get that man an umbrella!
The decision to end All the President's Men like that is an interesting one, though if memory serves, William Goldman's reasoning is quite good: everyone knows how the story ends, so there's no need to show it!
. . . Narp?
I wonder if one of the reasons I find it so moving is because the sibling bond doesn't seem to get explored in art and literature quite as often as other relationships. In any case, you're right - you can tell Vonnegut would have given anything for just one more conversation with his sister.
I read Good Omens last December in honor of the impending Apocalypse. It was completely delightful! Just thinking about it brings a big smile to my face.
The combination of that title quotation and that screenshot up there will keep me laughing for the rest of the week.
