My dad is the music expert in the family, but it was my mom who introduced me to great films. I still remember the first times we watched Psycho and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Godfather. She even let me watch Fargo with her even though I was a bit young for it.
I was in New York last year and saw one of those ersatz Cookie Monsters busking in Times Square. I thought, "Psh, that's not the real Cookie Monster. No way is that guy as politically savvy as the real one."
