Cripple of Inishmaan seemed like a pretty bad fit/tough clue for pop culture, even with the Daniel Radcliffe tie-in. Then again, the girls ahead of me in line when I went to see it had absolutely no idea what the play was about and were just there to see Harry Potter, so it might have cast a wider net than I realized.

Very surprised by how that final shook out. Alexander's been so strong on geography, and Ali guessed Nepal when the clue wanted a city…hope that was just nerves and that she does better tonight.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the virtues of the go big or go home mindset, and I was yelling at my TV for her (and Alexander, in his early DD) to bet the farm. But leaving $2400 on the table didn't cost her the game - bad buzzer mojo and/or an insufficient knowledge base were also factors.

I know nothing about wagering, but I think it's still highly unlikely for someone to offer the tie from a runaway lead, so I'm not sure I'd go all-in in Elizabeth's position. However, the size of the DD bet ended up being moot - while it would have been reasonable to bet everything, having an additional $2400 wouldn't

In the timekeeping department, it's never a good sign when they've only gotten to 13 clues before the first commercial break, but Emma was on FIRE when Alex gave the LTAM in the first round. Ten clues left and they got to seven of them. Play like that all the time, people!

I feel as if a lot of times, if they don't tell you the work is British or American, that's a good sign it's from the Continent. Victor Hugo it is!

The benefit of overstuffed episodes like this is that the Charmings are reduced to a few choice lines and the better characters can get up to no good. I was not following Regina/Henry at all, but -as much as I don't want to see a lot of Henry-centric episodes - I would be interested to see if he is ever tempted by

It's unclear. Especially because from what I've heard TPTB don't like the strategies contestants employ to compensate - abbreviating clues, picking from the bottom. But I imagine it makes editing a little easier and probably saves them a couple thousand bucks a day.
I've been consistently DVR'ing and watching this

I love Code Name Verity with all my heart. Rose Under Fire is different but also very good.

You're forgetting Toy Story. Though Bo Peep felt like a one-off to me, in that she was handily defeated in both worlds in one episode.

ha, "flake"

Even though the portrayal of Bo Peep was a little off, I liked what the writers did with the character - reminded me of season one's episodes and their tone. It was always fun seeing people's Maine's counterparts and that held true here.
Mary Margaret trying to figure out the blackout…triple oy? I much liked her

Interesting strategy by Shawn, I thought - he started DJ in the hole and didn't go straight to Legal Matters, even though he's a lawyer. It's possible he wanted to find a DD in that category and was trying to build up some actual cash to bet with in the meantime.

The Regina/Emma conversation through the door was great - that's the kind of nod I like to see to established stories, not the cheesy costumes we got this episode.
I guess I'm okay with the Anna/Elsa garb, even if it was totally lifted from the movie. But the Belle-Gold ballroom scene. I CANNOT. First of all, felt

I believe they do have Internet - the first episode shows that Henry found Emma online.
The writers have said that the movie Frozen does not exist in Storybrooke, can't remember if it was because of a timing thing or if it's just a bit of hand-waving. Oh, who am I kidding? It's BOTH. But mostly hand-waving.

I knew They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They? would be top on this list and it absolutely deserves it. From the first season, I like "Rory's Birthday Parties," and I also really like "Richard in Stars Hollow" in S3 - older Gilmores getting vulnerable is my favorite. (Well, besides Emily ranting. I can't pick the Shira

It depresses me to know that Jeopardy doesn't have some sort of filtering system to make sure people who think Mary Queen of Scots and Mary Tudor are the same person never make it on the show.
It was a tough game, though.

For the dual reviews, is there a way to show that both shows have been reviewed on the TV club homepage? I think the photo links generally have both shows, it's the grade/show pairings in the middle that don't link to both.
Maybe make them separate links, just to the same entry?

Okay, favorite Marshall/Lily quotes/moments?
(Ted) "You have no idea how to play bridge, do you?"
"We're going to take a class."
"It's important to stay active."

To be fair, they may have been thrown by the fact that "date nut" was once a popular flavor of ice cream. I know I was.
