On the other hand, even though I was yelling at the TV for them to pick the higher-value Shakespeare clues, the DD was lurking in the 1200 slot. Absolute cake for the first three clues in that category; I wonder what the last two were.
Also noted - I didn't see Thursday's game, but earlier in the week there were a TON…
I believe we got a "Boo hiss" from Alex after that daily double. Just so you feel in the know.
Also of note, we had two extraordinarily snappy dressers on last night. Between Winston's pocket square and Elizabeth's dress, I was more impressed with the fashion than the responses. (Not that that's saying much.)
States that flow together was pretty painful - the right guy just didn't get the category, it seemed.…
I'm almost as excited for your recaps as I am for the new season itself. Which is saying something. Any comment on the Slowik scandal?
I mentioned last month that I was reading All the Light We Cannot See, and I just finished it. So good, yet I read it so disjointedly - half a month ago, half this past week - that I'm going to have to start again. Might have to end up buying this one, can't say enough good things about it.
Right now, I'm about halfway…
I didn't like Bay's decision making even before the twist ending, especially because the discussion was about the practical over the motivation behind the decision. I was hoping that Kathryn's experience of following her husband around would be brought up, because I can't imagine Kathryn doesn't see that behavior…
thank you!
I wouldn't say Westing Game and Bernadette are that similar but if you enjoyed Mr. Penumbra's, especially its visual descriptions and the general tone, Bernadette might be up your alley.
I'd agree with that (after all, nothing is nearly as good as The Westing Game!). Turtle really meant something to me as a kid (and Angela and Judge Ford have come to resonate more with me over the years) but most of the characters of Mr. Penumbra's are there to serve the cleverness, meaning the pressure is on to be…
I finally got to the top of the hold list for All the Light We Cannot See, which is a gorgeous book so far. I also just finished Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, which was recommended to me on the basis that it was similar to The Westing Game, a book I adore. I'm not sure I quite agree, maybe it's Westing Game…
But what square is that on Downward Spiral Bingo?
(and thank you!)
There's potential for a really nice discussion between Kathryn and Bay about what happens when you get caught up in your SO's life instead of your own. I can't even express how much I hope that happens.
The fact that this was supposed to pass as wild teen behavior after doing coke and sabotaging a construction site is ridiculous. Get your story straight, ABCF.
No two-letter words using "c" or "v"? Where are their priorities?
I will admit to having used "da" in games for years now and no one has ever called me on it. I thought it was an Irish term for "dad", but clearly that Maeve Binchy book I bought in the airport steered me wrong.
The photos of the finalists on the teen tournament mini-site turn into GIFs when you mouseover them. No doubt inspired by Jeff, whose fist-pumping lends itself to GIF quite well, but…poor Cooper.
Oh, thanks. I guess I had the payouts mixed up between college and teen tournaments. J! Archive to the rescue!
Using those numbers, though, the teen tournament costs in total 205k, making it less expensive than ten days of regular play (if no player surpasses the minimum payout, which admittedly seems unlikely). In…
Your last paragraph is correct, but the finalists aren't the only players to receive money in tournaments. For the teen tournament, semifinalists go home with 10k, and I believe the rest of the contestants get 5k for just showing up, though I'm not sure. So that's 240k over the entire tournament, plus more if second…
Video of "Adolpho," the signature song for Sam's character, in TDC: http://www.youtube.com/watc…
I will miss that kid's confidence. Not many people can pull off a funny interview AND two true Daily Doubles.
This episode of SAB was overstuffed and I'm not a great fan of that either, but we got Melody/Hot Audiologist Gabe time so maybe it's a win?
I'm on the fence about the gentrification thing becoming more family centric. It's an important issue all on its own, and having it be the target of Daphne's acting out diminishes…
