I don't know if it was a unique case, but Lost had main cast members credited who would disappear for half a season at a time, so I don't imagine there's a requirement for an appearance by all the main adult cast every episode.

Blasphemy! Luke is also hilarious.

All wrong.

The will-they-wont-they is even stronger when its combined a bit with a love triangle interest, and P&R did that with the Andy/Ann kiss in the season 2 finale.

This is two straight weeks we've had one Dunphy sibling completely absent. And Luke killed his only real line of the night, in the first 2 minutes of the episode.

It's Motorcade of Generosity, actually.

No case of the week = winner
At this point, sticking to the overall part and not shoehorning in a case of the week (taking down drug dealer of the week), they hit a solid episode.

It's honestly better if each season doesn't have a character focus, otherwise you lose too much in the time gaps. Individual episode focuses are great, even at the cost of ditching/marginalizing a character or two (like they did in the conspiracy episode).

One theory I saw is that this is the "Abed" season - each season being told through a different character's perspective (for the most part). The first season was Jeff, this season is Abed.

Quick, someone cast her in the remake of The Black Swan for next year!

@Lonely Robot

Good call on them both being without Moms on Christmas for the first time - we do know from earlier this year that Pierce's Mom lived with him.

Dennis System, Gang Dances Their Asses Off, Gas Crisis - those are all better once you know the characters and the way they interact. I think Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person is the best starter episode.

It'd be one thing to drag back a character for a re-hash or basically a re-run of their previous time on here, but most of them are there for sight gags only - I don't think Cricket had any lines, or really did anything other than light the crack pipe - and they were nice callbacks to people I'd completely forgotten,

I'm partial to season 5 as well. Not every episode is a classic though. Mac and Dennis break up and the movie ones are both mediocre.

I think they all drop F-bombs. Dennis for sure says to Frank at one point: "Oh you can go fuck yourself in your fat fucking ass."

HATED this episode. Serious Bruce Campbell is the worst Bruce Campbell. It's like he forgets he was in Evil Dead II.

Finally someone who admits the first season of Sunny is the weakest. It's good, to be sure, but the addition of Frank makes the show. Can't stand it when people talk about how much better it was pre-Danny DeVito.

I was surprised at Chevy Chase's singing. Much better than I expected.
