Kafka's actually a really good film
In the text-meets-bio style of Cronenberg's Naked Lunch

I've also heard Moby Dick's much better in the original Mandarin Chinese.

Anyone else like this?
My most re-read books are books I've only actualy read all the way through once. I pick them up again frequently and re-read a choice 50 pages or so that just meshes with what I'm feeling/want to feel at a given time, to the point that I've probably re-read through them all three or four times,

Lisbon, that was fucking perfect.

I grew up in a farm state
where the largely republican mothers enjoyed themselves some Prairie Home Companion and old-tyme country stylings. This could (God willing) backfire on the House GOP.

TRUTH
1) Who ever made the photo is the unsung AVClub staffer of the day.
2) Lohan is actually no more debauched than Marot Kidder was.

There's actually a serious push underway to investigating the possibility that Dahmer, who, in one of the most freakish coincidences ever (or not?), was at the mall on that very day and whom at least one witness describes as being with a young boy at some point.

PROTIP
Henry might not even be the most disturbing movie made about Lucas (or, rather, the case file of mayhem to which some lazy TX detectives affixed his name), as anyone who's seen Confessions of a Serial Killer can attest. It is a better movie though.

For the same reason Bravo went from the place I first discovered great movies like If… and Withnail and I, to middlebrow gay pandering, and finally to the Real Housewives Network.

I think by "we tolerate" the writers were evoking the fact of our society's collective decision to carry on rather than staging mass protests.

Babel wasn't trying to be like Crash, Crash was trying to be like 21 Grams. All of Inarritu's stuff is like that, and he started it.

Complete sidenote, and dubiously impressionistic, but I was surprised a few years ago to find myself coming to the conclusion that the UK has more attractive women per capita than any country I've ever been to.

I also gave Wahlberg the pass FidelAstro mentioned, in my case after Three Kings and Boogie Nights. Only to have him tear it into shreds with Entourage.

Let me guess
They nixed the suicide scene, the abrasive sociopathology of the apprentice, and basically everything that made the original so utterly nihilistic and compelling.

1) Scientists really are often interesting people

I find Rattle and Hum unlistenable, but, then, my favorite U2 albums are genuinely Zooropa and Pop, and there are six U2 albums I can think of that I liked more than The Joshua Tree, so I'm also kind of weird and contrarian.

I got raped when I was eleven, Twist.
I loved it!

In White's position, I would have used "paean" but, then, I'm probably just a despicable bourgeoise parasite.

In all fairness
The Social Network really is a memorial to in-group ruthlessness.

Boobs?
