I'm inclined to agree with you. George Lucas has squandered any fond feelings I've had for the series through his relentless desire to squeeze every drop of money out of it, via those bullshit re-releases with "extra footage" (and shitty CGI) and the awful prequels.

Dune had its legacy tarnished by Frank Herbert dying and his son continuing to write the series based on "notes" that he "discovered".

Hunger Games is a far, far more sanitized version of Battle Royale. Very little actual violence occurs around the main character to be honest. There's really nothing comparable to, say, the lighthouse scene in BR.
