We watched them again last weekend, and counted the endings. Three full endings (ring dunk, crowning, last ship to the West), with two half-endings (the reuniting of the Fellowship after the ring dunk, which I don't count but my GF counts; Sam returning to the Shire).

Funny, I thought the films actually gave Merry and Pippin short shrift. They were made into comic characters, rather than the noble characters they were in the books.

It was an awkward solution to an unfortunate problem. Jackson wasn't going to show the battles at Mirkwood or Lothlórien, but wanted to show that the Elves were part of the war too.

I've mentioned before that I'm intending to move to the Netherlands. Last Wednesday I had a job interview for a place in Amsterdam (via Skype), and it went so well they called me 15 minutes later to offer me a 2nd interview. That is tomorrow morning. If that goes well, the 3rd will actually be in Amsterdam.
