Was never a fan of his music but it is sad when someone makes this choice. It's even more gutting to know that this person had all the resources they could ever need to fight depression and still felt like they couldn't win. Happens too often…

I've seen the Hold Steady 18 times or so with almost all of my favorite shows/memories coming earlier in their career when I was in my early to mid 20s. That was a time of extended adolescence for me and the music perfectly soundtracked those years for me in a lot of ways. That is not a very unique claim, I know.
For me, I enjoyed more of the show than I disliked but I'm about ready to put a stake in the Miz/Dean feud. I do love the new Bo Dallas look and hope he did end up singing Freebird at the after party.
Good to know. Thank you. Hard to Google such things without probably ruining the experience a bit.
I'm a bit behind the curve having just started the game a month ago but I hope to log some solid hours in FFXV this weekend. I'm in Chapter 8 (got the parts to set sail) and just getting ridiculously distracted by side quests. At level 51 feel already way over powered. My only real gripe is the magic system is…
It's a shame twitter doesn't have the fortitude to ban his account. That would probably cause a lot of his supporters to also quit twitter in a boycott, helping their toxic bullying and abuse problem.
I concur, never my favorite system either. They have a few stone cold classics but in a ~300 game library 95% are gross to look at or play. I personally couldn't name 20 N64 games I would want on this.
Definitely true - The SNES was a tank that built to last unlike the many dead NES toasters floating around.
Lineup is solid for this. Quality over quantity any day. Surprised they were able to get the Square Enix licenses for FF3 (6) and Secret of Mana. Maybe they will surprise us again and make enough that there's no upside for scalpers and re-sellers? The Switch production rollout has showed some promise as the secondary…
I was 50/50 on listing Spacehog because of Mungo City. I didn't
really hear it getting much airtime in the DC market back in 95/96 so I
wasn't sure it was a hit. Valid point there.
Songs of note for me… (without checking too far down the comments)…
LCD definitely left a bad taste in my mouth after making such a big deal about their "last shows". Sure I'll check out these songs though, whatever! That being said…after even reading these few James Murphy comments I'm already of tired of his shtick.
Like it or not, 5 or 6 games will be "not so great" games Nintendo controls to rights to or can easily license:
Agree. This is the first album that sounds like a departure from the Hold Steady. I also thought they low balled the grade a bit.
Just gave the new Craig Finn album a listen and thought it was excellent so a lot more of that! Also to get pumped for my trip to 'Mania 33 I'll be listening to that "Give me to Green Light" song until I maybe like it.
Really any Postal Service song…
I first heard Elliott Smith in 2002 (first year of college) and Either/Or was my introduction to him. Looking back, it was the perfect soundtrack to being an awkward dude trying to find a footing but haven't revisited this album that much in the last decade.
I think Wilco is a great band and is fantastic live. For me, they've already written and recorded their best songs/albums.
I agree, that was a great run of albums. I don't think Personal Life or the others have really shut me down on their new music. I thought their latest album was their best since this trilogy and live I still think they are a lot of fun.
Nothing ground breaking but ya'll make me feel justified in the list that came to mind:
