This being The AV Club I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that one of those cops is Mike from Breaking Bad. 25 years younger and with hair but still with that growl of a voice.

If we *had* seen him get shot it would have felt like an awful cheat of an ending. If, for argument's sake, you take it that he did get shot at that moment and did die. Imagine how cheesy the ending would have seemed if the final shot had been us seeing Tony's head being blown off, then ending. It would have felt

But wait! If The AV Club exists in The Simpsons universe as a real thing and The Simpsons exist in The AV Club as a fictional thing then… magic xylophone?

I'd forgotten about that - he was dwarfed by Fiennes, Chastain and Redgrave but that's not a slur - he was still very good in it.

"That last episode with Giancarlo Esposito walking out with his face (or lack of) was one of the most watched episodes watched ever in television"

Considering the timing of the episode, only a couple after Pie-O-My's demise and the fury he felt at it, I've always taken it as a direct reference to that.

That's why I always regret watching them. They let you know exactly which forgotten subplots are about to be picked up in the episode you're about to watch.

It's a regular fixture in our home (or at least has been for the six months my girlfriend has been AD literate). But not during Lord of the Rings. That's given a pass because the "You shall be The Fellowship of the Ring!" moment is awesome.

If pushed I'd probably agree. It was great to see him tested and pushed to extremes without buckling.
