Will & Grace = Brothers (minus straight brothers) + Ned and Stacey (minus Thomas Haden Church + overacting friends).

That's not really a fair comparison. John Cena jobs way more often than Donnie Yen.
Plus, I believe that it's easier to get a period piece done because it would avoid all the touchy subjects that might get a film censored. It doesn't help that someone like Jackie Chan has seemingly sold out and is making more "patriotic" movies.
Not very recent stuff but I've liked the following which are not too CGI heavy:
Coweb (Jiang Lui Xia is being wasted these days)
Chocolate and Raging Phoenix (with Yanin Vismitananda)
Wu Xia (Swordsmen) was actually interesting despite it being a Donnie Yen movie and the kind of stupid ending.
The City of Violence was…
Now there's a sequel! Ninja: Shadow of a Tear.
Not really my weekend but this past Thursday the latest SASUKE (known as Ninja Warrior outside of Asia) aired. This is the 29th competition. The previous one has yet to air anywhere outside of Japan because G4 has the rights stateside and since they are going kaput soon the 28th and 29th competitions are in limbo.
In retrospect, I think my dad had pretty nerdy interests as he was the one who let me watch kung-fu films, took me to films like Return of the Jedi and the tokusatsu triple header and was always watching classic films when I was young.
Music-wise, my brothers led the way…at least initially. Hair rock!
Indirectly though,…
"I Want My MTV" did the smart thing by only covering up to the point before The Real World and other "reality" shows started taking over the network. The SNL book devolved into "Please don't fire me, Lorne/Hey Lorne, can you finance my next movie?" because they were talking to the then-current cast members. I think it…
According to this, 10 years for court of appeals, NY Supreme Court or court of claims judge. 5 years for anything else.

Just wait when they reveal the theme of Barney and Robin's wedding is "Yellow Umbrellas…As Far As The Eye Can See."
*Hand up*
Now gimme my Atlantis Submarine discount.
The main thing I did was go to New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestling Dontaku 2013 at the Fukuoka International Center. It was an OK show. Not as good as previous years. That Jushin Liger and Yuji Nagata were in the dark match is either an indication that they really packed the card or that I'm (or rather they are) old.
Does Amateur Hour by Sparks count?
Heyerdahl's theories were a form of hyperdiffusion (I think that's the correct term). But the Kon-Tiki voyage was so romantic to some that it persists to this day.
I never really paid attention to the Kon-Tiki because in Hawaii, we had the voyage of the Hokulea, which I think would make a much better movie.
"And some people might say “Gangnam Style.” We’ll see how that guy’s career pans out."
This was the book we read in my history class that led to us watching Freaks in the classroom. If I recall correctly, it actually covered and had photos of some of the performers from the movies. As some of the reviews note, it is more like a sociological study than straight book though: http://www.amazon.com/Freak…
Thanks for the rec. I'll check it out. I've seen Smothered but that was more about the battle between the show and the network.
Plus, per wikipedia, they cut out almost 30 minutes from the original because it was too shocking.
1) Due to time zones, the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombers was a Friday afternoon that went into Saturday morning and I spent pretty much the whole time refreshing web pages and watching live feeds of Boston TV stations.
Don't really miss The Hogan Family. It's Your Move on the other hand..
