"I'M NOT STU!!!"
"I'M NOT STU!!!"
Rugrats made a lot of references to other media during it's run. I mentioned a Gift of The Magi turn in a previous thread, but other references that come to mind are: Taxi Driver, The Road Warrior, The Fantastic Voyage, David Bowie's Space Oddity…
Whoa! How could I have missed Burl's return?!?
Let's honor those we have lost in the last year… I'll start.
Hippopotamus
They lay low in the jungle

"So, Monty, tell us when was your first gay experience?"
Rugrats Christmas special. Angelica straight up recreates The Gift of the Magi when she swindles Phil&Lil out of their respective Reptar doll and coloring book. The twins learn a valuable life lesson about gift giving, which may be the reason why she still receives her Malibu Cynthia Dreamhouse from Santa despite her…
I'm not sure if Quinn or Dexter are blind, but I remember that show, Blind Justice…
"Bitch, I am the Bay Harbor Butcher!"
Clueless, it is real. It is really real. It is really really…BAD. It retroactively destroys anything that's fun about the other songs…
'Screamers' was awesome. I liked when Peter Weller was attacked by the saw blade androids… wait, what? you said "Streamers"? I don't think I've seen that. Give me a minute…
There are 2 types of people…
It's a joke the director is playing on the audience, not really an amazing scene… Like when Chris Carter pans the camera to a picture of George W. Bush in The X-Files: I Want to Believe and cues the theme music. It's like, "Fuck you pal! I know you're directing* a movie, but you don't have to be a dick about it…"
You know what happened, i&1? People replaced novelty with parody. The masses wanted nothing but parody songs… My father, bless the poor codger, is still endlessly entertained by "Walking Round in Women's Underwear" and "Teddy the Red Nosed Senator."
Also, this must be the first time you've had a blood test since the 80's… Guess what? You've got AIDS! The cancer variety.
Curse these Mannequin Men and their catchy cover!!! I also had a record of this song (plus many other novelty Christmas songs) that was played ad nauseum every Christmas of my youth. I thought I was finally cured of this noxious earworm!
Have you not seen that episode of Louie with the fart?
In the Mysterionian lore established in "Mysterion Rises," immortals can only be killed by other immortals. Does the show care about continuity? Is the giant lizard space turkey immortal?
"It looks like Click has become… Clitk!"
